Demetria pressed her back against the wall, taking a furtive glance around the corner. She was down the street from Octaviusâ flat, where she was supposed to meet Amycus Carrow for a bit of fun and mischief.
Her relationship with her brother had been a bit strained lately, to put it lightly. Most recently, he had embarrassed her in front of Lord Voldemort, himself in some backwards attempt to prevent her from joining the Death Eaters. He always thought he knew what was best for her, and he insisted on treating her like a child, even though she was two years above the legal wizard age.
When Amycus had suggested that they play a prank on Octavius, Demetria had been skeptical, but she had eventually agreed. After all the serious stuff that had transpired between them, some lighthearted fun was definitely in order. (Demetria was also excited to see the stupid look on Octaviusâ face once he found out.)
Demetria looked around the corner again, waiting for Amycus to arrive.
"Then itâs a rather good thing youâre not me, I expect." She said pertly, arms crossed in front of her. Â "You know youâre not supposed to wander around after hours."
"And what are you going to do about it , Evans?" Amy frowned, rolling his eyes at being joined by the attractive red head. "Slap me with a detention? Please, you should know nothing like that bothers me, especially nowadays"
"That it doesnât bother you doesnât mean I wonât do it," she pointed out. Â She pursed her lips, knowing he was right. Â "Ten points from Slytherin and you get back to your Common Room." Â Given the friends she kept, she didnât actually give out many detentions for simply being out of bed after hours.
Listening to her announce her idea of a punishment made him giggle, well chuckle under his breathand he simply shook his head at her. âIâve certainly learnt my lessonâ helicked his lips whilst eyeing her up, noticing that the corridors were silent apart from their little discussion, and he rather liked that. âWeâre all alone, how nice. Iâve always wondered what it would be like to be alone with you, Evans. I mean, Potter sure speaks highly enough of you, and Severus seems rather smitten as well⊠I wonder what it is they see in you, after all itâs not your blood purity, there must be something else⊠something more hiddenâ he breathed, biting down on his bottom lip as his gaze lowered to the front of her top.   Â
She hadnât been trying to teach him a lesson, sheâd merely been trying to get him out of the halls. Â His words had been right, there was little she could do that would make much of a difference - with him anyway. Â Mostly she just wanted him to go to his common room so she could retreat to her own warm bed. Â Her attitude changed quickly, though, as the tone in his voice shifted. Â It made her distinctly uncomfortable until he punctuated his words with eyes to her blouse, at which point she felt positively insulted. Â âI can promise it wouldnât be the pleasure youâre imagining,â she said tightly, her jaw stiff as she tried to play off her discomfort as sarcasm. Â âGo to bed, Carrow.â
What she answered with was probably the worst thing shecould have said, as it increased his desire to get to know⊠to understand what made her so ⊠special.  âDoes that mean special little Evans hasnât been popped?â Amy smirked, his eyes darting over her face, but he merely shook his head at her last comment, that was the last place he was going to go, especially as it was a rarity to catch her on her own. âOnly if you join me, or we could go to yours if that would make you feel more comfortable?â he teased, casually closing the gap between them a little more. âWhat is it that keeps them so interested then, do tell meâ      Â
He stepped closer to her and and she stepped back, a move she instantly could have kicked herself for. Â She didnât want him to know that he was making her decidedly uncomfortable. Â That her fingers were itching for her wand, safe in the pocket of her robes and not in her hand. Â She didnât dignify his question about her virginity with even a change in expression, hoping the old adage was true. Â If you ignore them, they will go away. Â âOh but that would ruin the fantasy,â she returned, her confident tone of voice at odds with the way she stepped back again. Â âYouâd have to ask them,â she answered tightly, her sarcasm becoming more biting with every retort. Â âGood thing one of them is in your common room right now, prime for a heart to heart.â
âYou know if you keep walking backwards youâre going tohit the wallâ Amycus told her, sniggering slightly at each and every word, he was rather enjoying himself right now, and there was certainly no way he was going to head back to his common room unless a Professor came to spoil their fun. âAs much as I love the sound of having a heart to heart with Sevvy, I think Iâd rather hear it from you. Although it is all starting to make a lot of sense now, to why they are so obsessed with you, itâs most likely to do with the fact youâve not spread your legs for them, and until you do youâve got them exactly where you want themâ Amy continued to move towards her, and rested his hand on the wall behind, staring back down at the fiery female, she certainly knew how to stand up for herself. âIâve always wondered what it would be like to sleep with a Mudblood, not the sort of thoughts I should be having, but I rather like the taste of the forbidden fruitâ he teased, moving his fingers to drum down the side of her body before he retracted his hand once again. âIâve  been trying to think of a good reason to use the Imperius curseâ
Irritation, even disgust, were easy emotions to project and wrap around herself like a shield. Â Especially when Amycus pulled them so easily from her. Â A disgusted expression crossed her lips and the rest of her face as he mused on what it was about her that James and Severus found so interesting. Â âDoes that mean Iâm adding you to my list of admirerâs?â she asked with an unmistakable sneer. Â âBecause I certainly wonât be spreading anything for you.â Â She could have spat the words. Â She felt her back bump into the wall heâd mentioned, though she couldnât tell if she was glad for it or not. It certainly helped to balance the shaking in her knees, though she was practically crawling for the closeness it was forcing. Â Irritation and disgust were the emotions of choice but as Amycus dropped two very loaded words, fear flared between them. Â Mudblood. Â A word that had never bothered her as much as when it fell from Severusâ lips but - when uttered by someone like Amycus - threatened far worse than a simple blood slur. Â Imperius. Â A very real cause for concern that had her reaching for her wand. Â âGet away from me, Carrow.â Â Her sarcasm was gone, her attempt to appear unaffected and amused became less important.
When her back hit the wall just like he had warned,he knew that being close to her was going to be a lot easier now than it hadbeen before. However, he took his time in closing the gap to that point, after all he wanted to keep her on her toes, keep her wary, make her feel somewhat frightened by his presence and what his intentions with her were. âI am not going to deny that I am somewhat intrigued, but admire⊠noâ he wouldnât mind getting to spend a night with her, but he wouldnât go so far as to become obsessed with her like the other two were, that was just pathetic in his eyes. âGet away from you? But that is the last thing I want to do, Lilyâ Amy smirked, peering down at her, whilst his fingers moved to her hair and played with a couple of strands. âIâm sure we can come to some kind of arrangement, Iâm a fair man after allâ
Lily wasnât a fighter, she wasnât the type to resort to using magic at the slightest whim. Â Perhaps it was because sheâd been raised without it for so long, perhaps it was because she didnât often find herself in situations that called for it. Â If she were more like Marlene, with a more explosive temper and a faster wand hand, she would never have let Carrow get this close. Â Of course, Marlene likely would have just punched him but Lily would but useless that way. Â And so she asked him to get away from her, through gritted teeth with white knuckles. Â And when he didnât, when his hand instead came up to toy with her hair in a way that formed a hard lump in her throat, she closed her fingers around her wand. Â The revulsion jinx didnât require an incantation, merely a channeling of desire. A purple light flared where flesh met wood as she focused all her fear and disgust into her desire for Amycus to be on the other side of the room.
Amycus wasnât stood firm, in fact he was flaking a little as he concentrated onplaying with her hair, his hand was just about to linger above the top of her clothes, but before he could go anywhere the spell had hit him, and he had flown across to the other side of the room. Amycus had not had chance to react before the side of his head and smashed into the corner of the wall , causing him to limply fall to the cold floor where he didnât move from, not even a little. The impact of the hard wall against his head was enough send him unconscious, and whatâs worse was the fact blood was beginning to trickle from an opening on the side of his head. Whether she would help him or not, he couldnât even speak to beg of her, not that he would go so far as to beg a Mudblood for help anyway, but this was certainly not the way that he wanted to be left. Â
She hadnât meant to hurt him. Â That was the first thought that went through her head when when she saw the strength of her spell. Â Sheâd just wanted him away from her, wanted space to breath and his hands no where near her. Â But if there was one brand of magic Lily always struggled with, it was anything intention based. Â It was harder for her to summon when she wasnât emotional and to control when she was. Â She took a moment to catch her breath before she could settle herself enough to cross the floor to where Amycus had fallen. Â She had half a mind to leave him, to find a professor and confess what had happened. Â They would get him to the hospital wing and it would no longer be her problem to handle. Â She didnât want to make a big deal of this, though. Â Didnât want the story to spread, didnât want everyone to know what had happened. Â âYou couldnât have just stepped away, could you?â she muttered with irritation as she lowered herself to her knees beside him, hands gentle as she pressed the tip of her wand to the cut, muttering the spell to close the split skin and heal the concussion she was sure it had given him.Â
Once she had fixed his cut and in turn his concussion, his eyes began to slowly flicker open and he pushed himself away from the cold floor. âThanksâ he grumbled, thanking her for fixing him up, but also sarcastically commenting on the fact that she had put him there in the first place. âI suppose you donât like people messing with your hair thenâ Amy knew it was more than that but he wasnât going to mention it, after all his intentions had been very forward, and if she had not hexed him then he would have probably gone further. As soon as he was back on his feet , although a little shaky, he flashed her a sort of smile, before bringing his hand to his throbbing head â something that was not all that recent. Â âWhy didnât you just leave me there? You could have got help and then youâd be back in your Common room by now, safe and sound, I canât help but think you might just be rather fond of meâ he teased, knowing that was probably very far from the truth but you couldnât blame him for trying.
As soon as he was able to push himself off the floor, head and cut healed, she was on her feet and had backed well away from him. Â She kept a tight hold on her wand but her arm hung loosely at her side. Â Her other hand gripped her elbow, crossed in front of her body like a wall she would like to have built between them. Â She clenched her jaw at his joke about her hair, not at all in a joking mood. Â It took her a moment to answer his question, unwilling to look at him as she did so and instead studying the floor. Â âIf Iâd gotten a professor I would have had to explain what happened,â she explained grudgingly. Â âAnd I - well Iâd rather forget about this once itâs done. Â Which it is now.â She lifted her eyes from the floor to fix him with as hard a stare as she could. Â âGet back to your Common Room, Carrow,â she offered by way of parting before she all but fled the room.
Amy didnât quite know what to say to her, should he thank her over and over, or just ignore the event had ever happened? Now heâd had a knock to the head he knew he had been way too forward, and he wished that he had not done that mainly because now heâd have to watch himself whenever he was around her. She had leverage on him and that was never a position he wanted someone to have with him, especially someone like her. âMaybe one day weâll be able to share a moment together that is more calmâ he told her before she left, but he didnât expect much to happen between them really, he wasnât a fool and he knew they were opposite sides of the same coin. For this once he decided to do as she had told him and made his way back to his common room, where he settled next to his sister, and although he continued to think about the events which had just unfolded, he also darenât not tell anyone else what had happened.
