Not one of our proudest moments in history... Brigadier General Reginald Dyer should have been Court-Martialed and charged with murder, as should his officers for carrying out an illegal order.

Amritsar
Another place I cannot skip over being a Sikh woman. Amritsar is mostly known for its Golden Temple.
The Golden Temple is already a popular tourist spot, but I couldn’t not add it to the list being as it’s the most important pilgrimage site for Sikhs. Sorry for the double negative. There is so much history around this beautiful place and I highly recommend visiting it and learning about the place.
But there are other places to visit in Amritsar. The best time to visit would be between October and March. Avoid the monsoon months.
Something I have yet to mention is street food! Amritsar has great street food and fun fact about street food, most of it is under $5! Yes, it is possible to get enough street food to fill yourself up rather than going to an expensive restaurant to eat.
(The photos above do not belong to me) Street food is found everywhere in India, not just a truck in a certain location on the side of the road. The best thing about street food, it that you can keep eating and eating until you do not feel like eating anymore before you pay!

Another thing to do in Amritsar is bird watching. This can be done in the Hirake Wetlands. You can see birds from all over the world here during the months I listed above. Admission is free, but unfortunately, you need a permit to take pictures here. But the point of nature is to become one with it, not view it through a lens!
Amritsar -25th Birthday! You really don’t realise how long it has actually been,Until you sit down and think when was the last time...
