"George, you can't get married" "yeah she can" "no she can't" "why not?" "because she's a girl" "she can still get married" "no he I mean she can't" "yeah she can" "no because of that amendment thingy, gays can't marry er i mean gays are guys but yeah" "she could go out and get married today if she wanted" "not in north Carolina" "yeah if she married a guy" "but SHE'S GAY!!!"
conversation between my dad and little sister...lol he likes to be a smart ass
Wow, isn't it just so nice that President Obama has come out in support of marriage equality after a crucial vote in a swing state? I do like and support Obama, but this is just disappointing. If Mr. President had been kind enough to directly say "I believe in marriage equality for couples of all genders and all combinations of genders," who knows how the vote would have turned out? Maybe the apathetic would have decided that this was worth it, that if their president thought it was a big enough issue to take a stance on, well then they would too. I am just so incredible disappointed right now, both in my state and my president. I am happy he has finally taken a solid stance in favor of marriage equality, and I truly hope that he gets reelected, but I just wish he had done it sooner. Maybe this disgusting amendment wouldn't have passed.
I am so ashamed to be a North Carolinian right now.
RANT 1. Ammendment 1 in NC = ridiculous
Something called Amendment One was just passed in my home state of NC that takes away the right to recognize any marriage of any gay couples that come into NC. I have NEVER been so ashamed to live in my state. I am appalled, angry, taken a back and outraged. How can this even happen? How can any of these laws pass? This is the most ridiculous thing I have witnessed and had to be a part of in a long time. It really sucks to have to abide by this when I go home to my family. That I have to watch my good friends suffer and feel bullied. So much hate. So little reason. NO REASON
