Today was the final day of our #oman #geology tour. The first picture of the post was our last stop - a large scale fold inside a larger sheath fold. The first stop of the day was to inspect an unusual lava called #carbonatite which contained veins of #amerthyst We then stopped at a notch cut into rock by molluscs when the sea level was higher in the last interglacial. Then we visited a Miocene #wavecutplatform which was overlain by Quaternary corals. We then took a boat across a river and headed into #wadishab which is considered by many to be Oman's most beautiful Wadi. After a picnic lunch at the Wadi we visited a fascinating site with a #tsunami deposit. This was followed by the #bimmahsinkhole which is actually a #doline.
