first drafts and query uncertainties
Celebrating having finished a rough first draft of my latest wip this weekend. There’s still a long road to go but I’m so proud to have the essence of the story down on paper. I need help with picking a title for my romantic sci fi novel. I've flickered between a few of these, I have a favourite but have gotten mixed reviews from others.

An incomplete list of edits for this draft:
Make Ferren (MMC) meaner, and expose him to the reader right from his intro.
Undercut Eyssa (FMC) right at the start. As it stands the reader only finds out her confidence a mask at the 2/3 mark. Nah.
Reduce the Pantheon from 8 to 3. Way, way too many complaints about the names/halls, and the pantheon was gonna grow later anyway. Eliminates the “why is there no death god?” Plot hole if it’s a trinity.
Magi get masks. Because masks are cool.
Take Ferren’s master off the page. He’s a better ghost than a 1-page villain.
Merge the two women Ferren talks to. The mentor and the cohort can easily be the same person.
Nix or Fix Ferren’s name thing.
Simplify and clarify the dreams. All of them.
Consistency edits for all of the above.

The rewrites of LunarWIP have begun and the first part has been done to the sound of the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack on loop.
Astraea dreams of Caspian every night and there is nothing that will stop him from finding her. He'll tear the world apart to get to her and have no second thoughts about doing so.
After taking a short break from writing, I started drafting LunarWIP the sequel this afternoon and I was so happy to realise that I still loved these characters and I was still excited about the story.
This duology could be the one to make it out of the realm of forgotten, half finished novels.
