On Saturday, a friend and I explored multiple international grocery stores in and around Harrisburg, PA, including Asia Mall (pan Asian), Dong Yang Market (Korean) Golden International Market (eastern European), and Himalayan Grocery Store (Nepali, Bhutanese, and Indian). We also made a quick visit to the Dillsburg Farmers Market, where local produce was plentiful.
I'd heard hype on YouTube about TaoQi peach ice cream treats, which consist of peach-flavored ice cream coated in white chocolate and shaped like peaches. My friend and I found them at Asia Mall, and they were worth every penny. Flavorful, rich, and refreshing.
While browsing Asia Mall, we found several pickled vegetables we'd never heard of before, including splinter caparid, elaeocarpus, and ambarella. We sampled them later that night.
After a great dinner at her house of fried rice with local vegetables and a side of sauteed local mushrooms, I lounged around back home, munching on puffed water lily seeds from Himalayan Grocery Store.
My refrigerator and pantry are now stocked with cooking staples, snacks, and new foods I'm eager to try, such as dried brackenfern and canned mackrel. What a fun day!
