The Emerald Tree Boa
Scientific Name: Corallus caninus
Region: Lowland tropical rainforests of northern and central South America
Size: Usually about 6' (~1.8m) long, or up to 9' (2.7m) if residing in the Amazon Basin
Interesting Note: Ever since I saw one of these resplendent reptiles when I was younger, they've been one of my favorite snakes. They are usually spotted coiled around branches, as pictured above, and their size, markings, hue and even personality, can vary greatly dependent on the region they live in - with individuals from the Amazon River Basin tending to be the largest, yet most docile.
as a kid, I used to be fascinated with the animals of South America, which got to see thanks to a trip to Brazil for a month. A favorite animal of mine was a bird called ‘The Cock-of-the-rock’ only recently after doing an essay on Peru with my friend and uncovering this bird again we couldn’t stop laughing at it’s weird name.
Hammock Style Accomodation It's pretty cheap and easy to pull up a hammock and rest. Mosquito nets available if required.
River Exploring and Relaxing As you probably gather this expedition was pretty laid back. We got some sun, took loads of photos and observed the forest.
