@always-bitter
The words seem to reverberate in his head, burrowing through his ears and touching every corner of his cranium. For a moment, he can't escape it. His own reflection, though he is looking directly into his own eyes, becomes hazy and unclear, as if the image were far away. With all his might he tries to draw it back, every pore zooming in and out of focus. It makes him ill.
"That's ah⸻" He gives a strained chortle, wiping his forehead in a circular motion as he would clear away a fogged bathroom mirror. If he can just make light of it. Pretend he doesn't care. "Better to look too long rather than look too little!" Mitch surprises himself with this quick answer, the words tumbling from his mouth before he can think. That's impressive. He's got good instincts. He didn't even have to try... his positive self-appraisal causes his posture to straighten, eyes fixated once more on his own. Perfectly round little orbs with brown rings.
"That's what I always say! You're ignoring the details here. Those little details, they're all important you know." Confidence oozes from him now.
"I wouldn't want to be caught NOT looking long enough. But that's just me!" Mitch fixes himself with an award-winning grin, teeth sparkling with spit.
