Bilateral Sagittal Split Osteotomy This young man has a very prominent mandible. It is extremely prognathic with an overbite of approximately 8 mm. He has had difficulty with eating and speech for many years now. Upon obtaining a consultation with a dentist in his hometown, he was referred to our hospital for correction. Bone cuts were made in the mandible and a segment of bone 8 mm in thickness was removed bilaterally. The inferior alveolar nerve was mobilized with the proximal segment allowing for adequate manipulation of the distal segment. Adequate precautions were taken throughout the surgery to ensure that there was no injury to the nerve. Occlusion was checked and the segments of the mandible were stabilized and fixed with plates and screws. The patient was very happy with the cosmetic and functional results of the surgery. He was able to chew well and speak without any distortion. #sagittalsplit #osteotomy #mandibular #alveolarbone #craniofacial #facesurgery #maxillofacialsurgeon #maxillofacial #maxillofacialsurgery #smbalaji #drsmbalaji #balajidental ##jawinjury #injury #surgeryrecovery #surgery #surgeon #nerve (at Balaji Dental and Craniofacial Hospital) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_hl4k5hCnZ/?igshid=1mazbywpxj68p
