I support 2e Alternity making the die rolls go up instead of down. But I reject, as with a gate of wrought iron, the fact everything in their equipment rules is generic “vaguely space-y sounding words”. 1e based its equipment on real speculations about future weaponry, armor, vehicles, etc., at least through the Fusion Age (frankly the idea you’d only get viable laser weapons after you get true artificial gravity is needlessly conservative).
I would like someone to explain to me when, exactly, and why, it became the norm for science fiction not to try to be plausible and grounded and based on real speculations. You sound stupid and real SF fans don’t like you.
