Miragespecies, or miraspecies, miragekin or mirakin, is a species identity that is not quite clear enough to make out or understand fully. However, when one tries to look closer or figure it out, it fades or moves further away, like a mirage. People with this identity may have a rough idea of their species, but not perfect. This means that they can identify as any species, but they know that it isn't exactly right. This identity may also change over time. It is similar to speciesfluid except one is always uncertain about one's species on some level.

Alterfolk has and always will be an explicit rejection of using otherkinity as a framework while being alterhuman. It was coined out of the otherkin framework and community infighting not working for me, so I made my own term that is just "I am x. You are not entitled to why or how. Fuck off."

Please stop tagging alterfolk on otherkin posts. It is not meant to be used as a replacement for alterhuman or otherkin. It always has been its own thing, and seeing it constantly misused just reminds me constantly of how I got pushed out of it in the first place because of people using it to replace otherkin and that disinformation spreading.
