Are you a fan of GSM wines? And have you noticed the trend recently of winemakers playing around with the three varietals? We enjoyed a luscious Alta Colina “Sun Worshipper” blend. Not GSM - but MGS. Driven by the “M” - Mourvèdre - the wine is deeper and darker than GSM, and richer I think. If you haven’t had this wine, fix that! So like many people I’ve started opening my “weekend wine” every day of the week. I’ll replenish when this is all over. We have several hundred bottles at home so I’m not worried. Today’s wine was a fantastic Rhône-style blend from my favorite Paso winery, Alta Colina. You’ve had GSM blends, I know. This is an MSG blend from 2015. Drinking beautifully with ground lamb and cauliflower. Sous vide rack of lamb and ....? How about a nice 2015 Syrah from Alta Colina in Paso Robles. Beautiful dark color, blueberry, blackberry, licorice and spice on the nose. Bold flavor, nice tannins, spice and pepper and earth mix beautifully with the dark fruit. Perfect with the lamb - which was fantastic by the way. John is getting really good with the sous vide.
