Happy Tasting Tuesday Everyone! Shall we continue our discovery around the Northern Rhone? I've brought a Saint-Joseph AOC from Cave de Tain @cavedetain , the longest and the most diverse appellation in the area. I am sharing some information about the AOC in my stories, please make sure you check them out to understand the complexity of this area. Now let's see the tasting notes of this 2019 vintage Nobles Rives. The wine has an appealing and vivid ruby red color and a medium plus viscosity. Intense fruity nose with ripe blackcurrant, cherries, plums and cassis; black olives, black pepper and sweet cooking spices such as cloves and cinnamon with a touch of vanilla. A dry wine with high acidity, medium plus alcohol feel with smooth, ripe tannin structure. A medium plus bodied wine with flavours identical of the ones from the nose and has a medium plus finish. I consider this as a very good quality which can be kept for another 5-8 years and drink it on 16-18°C. Perfect to pair with red meats from the grill on a BBQ for example, even with some heavier poultry dishes and hard cheeses. Have you tried a Saint-Joseph before? How was your experience? Jour 5: Bourg-Saint-Andéol - Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Parti tôt, au frais, car on m’avait dit au camping que la route grimpait. Au final, ce n’est que la montée vers Châteauneuf, quand on sort de la piste cyclable qui est raide. Le village se mérite.
Route facile, revêtement neuf sur la plus grande partie, mais sans trop d’attrait. On traverse les champs de maïs, de tournesols, de lavande rachitique (ce n’est peut-être pas la saison) et les lignes haute tension qui viennent de la centrale du Tricastin.
