It’s been a wild week of magnificent releases, and today has been no different with numerous exceptional EPs and new singles out and about. Los Angeles based alt/indie duo slenderbodies, an absolute favorite of ours since we heartily shared their song ‘anemone’ over a year ago, gives us one of the day’s best new EPs in ‘soraya’. The five track compendium of steamy gliding alt pop hits what I’ve now coined slenderbodies’ triple S trifecta. It sizzles, it’s slinky, and it’s swag. Queen is a fresh jam off of soraya that exhibits slenderbodies’ trademark charm, humid and muggy, sooty and seductive. It’s an intoxicating sound that falls somewhere in between Glass Animals and Jungle, with the taut guitar strut of art rock bands like Alt-J and Foals.  "Sometimes a king needs a loving reminder from their queen, to show him his ‘wealth’; referring to his strength, talents, creativity, and ability to love, grow and prosper for both of their well being,” slenderbodies explain, continuing,“Similar to ‘king’, both songs are about receiving the emotional support and inspiration needed to succeed.” soraya, which is out on tastemaker indie label Avant Garden, examines the powerful impact of all the influential women in slenderbodies’ lives. On Call is an exhilarating track we shared previously half a year ago, but now that it’s been re-released on Foreign Family Collective, its psychedelic spiraling electro-soul and saucy slinking electronica are ripe for a re-share. The song comes from NYC based songwriter and producer White Cliffs, and it’s quite the dashing, swaggering funk imbued, bass profuse jam. It’s near impossible not to shuffle your feet and swing your hips to the plucky, stylish tune. Stream/download the single, here.

The thing I love about music is there really isn’t any “fine print” to it. There are no strings attached when a good song or an amazing band resonates with you and creates all sorts of emotions and feelings in your heart. I’m not sure if that’s what UK duo Fine Print is referring to with their chosen pseudonym. There’s probably some other ulterior motive to the name. The pair has been creating said resonance and rapport with their slinky smoldering, tense grooving concoctions for quite some time now, so we’re thrilled they’ve returned with their first song of 2017, a slick soulful, funky strutting alt electronic swooner named Beast.
