Arno nodded faintly, his gaze boring straight ahead but unseeing. His mind felt hazy—perhaps it was the alcohol. Perhaps it was many other things but he couldn’t hold on to them. Not a damn one. And he didn’t want to.

That was perhaps why he turned to look at Rapunzel then. Brows furrowed. Eyes welling with tears. He leaned close to her, taking her face in his hands and kissed her deeply.

Rapunzel tastes the hours spent with the bottle, feels the warmth it provides through his hands on her cheeks. She senses the despair in his eyes even as hers close to drink deeper of him. Mouth to mouth, she lets him lead and opens herself to him for him to fall into. There’s little known about him, she realizes, and if anyone else did know, they didn’t discuss it with her (even when she asked).

She had wished to know him better but she had not wanted it like this. If she could kiss away the buzzing thoughts he harbored then she would spend herself offering him her comfort. Whether that was her whole body or just her mind and ears -- whatever he wanted. “Arno,” her voice trickles down his jaw and up his tear-stained cheek where her mouth continues to press urgently between each question. “What can I do for you? How can I make you happy?”  

Arno was a difficult man but not unfeeling. While he was typically reserved he’s never gone so far as to hide from her or drink himself into a stupor. Yet, today he’d been gone all day and although that wasn’t untypical, the lack of reason as to why had eaten away at her. She may not know the world well, but she knew better. This wasn’t normal and she needed to find him.
