First off? Fucking fantastic game

I fucking love this game so much right now

I was so worried it would suck, especially considering how disappointing Rune Factory 5 was. But this is a fantastic game and well worth the money

The farming is great, the option to have it automated makes it feel less like a chore and really helps when you’re doing the main story

The characters are delightful and have so much personality during the cutscenes/main story

It’s a long game if you’re playing on nightmare mode/the hardest difficulty. And the bosses are tough so it is a good game for players who like a challenge. But the story mode/easy difficulty is also great too

I love the combat so much!! It’s so so good. You finally get the option to use a bow and switch it out and holy cow is it so satisfying. It feels a little bit like BOTW, especially with the exploration

My biggest complaint about RF5 was the colours of the background and how sparse the open world seemed. This game fixes that and I love it so much

You don’t! Use up your energy cooking or farming or fighting! It only gets used up when you’re using magic items which is awesome

Finding recipes is fun and cooking is so simple

My two complaints right now (I have yet to finish the game, only finished like 3/4? Of the main story) is one, one of the romanceable characters seems to only be available late game (and he’s the one I want to marry for my first playthrough lol). I have been avoiding the other romance options because of that, so I can’t give any confirmations on how the romance/marriage works in this game yet

Two, you can’t customize the player character and I can’t play as a dark skinned woman. Which does suck :/ you can marry anyone regardless of gender though! So hopefully customization will be an option for the future? (Probably not, but I can hope 😔)

Some of the designs for the characters do toe the “hmm” line but I would honestly argue it’s not as bad as it could have been…Matsuri’s outfit design though, Oof, please give her an actual top :/

I am still mad about Kai being a drunkard but I think they kind of avoid the problems of that (he’s dark skinned) by having Ikaruga (another dark skinned man) being more of a Justice type character (also spoiler but you also fight Ikaruga? Like wtf? He kicked my ass so many times and his fight was nuts for a Rune Factory game, he had me dodging and jumping to dodge, like what is this, Elden ring???)

Also! Spoiler but this game actually gives your character a backstory and more of a motivation and the world building they’ve put in is actually interesting? I am genuinely invested in this story, I would argue this is the franchise’s strongest story, writing wise

I know someone complained that the connection between Kaguya and Subaru seems forced but honestly I think it works and makes the whole conflict going on so much more interesting

(And it’s great for anyone wanting to write fanfiction for this game 🤭)

And the actual way the gods work is very good too and i appreciate that it doesn’t feel weird that they just hang out with you and everyone else in the game
