Chapter 34: Dreams

Here, he had a different life. He wasn't Harry. He wasn't a Potter. He wasn't a Victor. He was no one - and yet, someone. Someone better.

No factories, no people, just trees. Trees and trees and trees. Endless woods. Grass and dirt and life, so much life. Untouched. Locked behind a fence to be feared, to be forgotten.

But they go on forever. There's so much more out there than life in the Districts or The Veil. There's nature. There's freedom. There's beauty. 

When he was a child, he used to wonder where he would end up if he just kept walking. Of course, he'd probably run into another district eventually. District 9 or District 4. District 1. District 5 or District 6, if he went far enough. 

But there's so much space between them. What happens between all the misery and the monotony? What was there out there? Nothing but land. Nothing but air. If someone were brave enough, they could leave and start a whole new life out here. They could survive on their own, build a house, hunt and grow their own food, sew their own clothes. They could have a full life.

If they were lucky enough to have someone at their side, they might start a family. Their children could grow up without fear of the Reaping or a Hunger Games. They could live to be old enough to have children of their own. They could be happy.
