Service top alpha Zoro who acts all cool and stoic until dom omega Sanji insults him like literally one time, and he melts into a puddle on the floor.

As directionless as he may be, Zoro seems to find himself at the cook's side constantly, following Sanji around the Merry like a cat pretending not to want cuddles. Every once in a while, he looks at Sanji with those soulful eyes (eye, later) that guilt trip him into giving in - sake, scenting, sparring, whatever the stupid marimo wants.

And, hey, solo cycles aren't necessarily grand fun on the grand line, so Sanji ends up inviting Zoro to join him for some of all of his heats.

To his delight, Sanji finds it so very fun to bully his marimo during the height of their ecstasy, where he leans down, purposefully grinding on Zoro's lap, and whispers:

"Only good boys get to knot, moss."

I need it I need it I need it 🙏

First because it means Sanji can carry his Alpha's scent with him at every moment of his heat no matter what, which is a relief

I think it would be funny if Zoro's challenging towards him increased when he found out Sanji was an omega, became his dumb brain went "must challenge the rival (Sanji) so he doesn't steal the omega (Also Sanji)"

Zoro fighting Sanji for Sanji is so funny and fitting. ✨

Sanji doesn't think to say anything about being an omega because one: it's not your business, and two: he really thought it was obvious. He's been clocked before, and Luffy probably said something 'We don't have any omegas yet.' when trying to convince him to join his crew. It's not his fault no one asked, and Luffy didn't say anything. It is their business when his heat is coming though. It's courteous to give a proper warning to your pack before it comes. And at the time they hadn't fully bonded as a pack so it was even more important to say something. It sort of freaks everyone out because not only are they just now figuring out there's an omega in their pack, but their omega has a heat coming and they are not prepared for that.

Sanji's only exposure to omegas for most of his life are his mom and Patty (i also love him lol) so his mannerisms are a weird mix of doting and violent. Usually more violent than not. It doesn't help that Zeff spent a lot of time telling him betas and omegas are smart and better than alphas (he says that as an alpha). So Sanji goes from being told he's a complete failure and totally worthless for being an omega, to being told he's just objectively cooler than alphas. He never got to see his mom with a real mate, so honestly his only role models for a solid bond are Patty and Carne. And while they're not the best, they are a very strong pair- they communicate well, they fight, they move as one in and out of the kitchen, and they love each other. And they always look like they're having so much fun together.

Unfortunately the older he gets the more he realizes how luck Patty got to find someone who loves him like that. Because the more he interacts with alphas, the more he hears the shit Judge used to say. He learns why Zeff says alphas suck pretty quickly. And he resigns himself to the fate of not having a mate. Because he refuses to change his behavior to be more 'omega like', he can't dilute himself to be more tolerable to someone he's supposed to spend his life with. But finding someone who would like an omega like him is incredibly unlikely.

When he meets Zoro he has a moment of hope, because Zoro has never once spoken down to him or corrected him. Instead he fights Sanji, he argues and snaps at him, he speaks to Sanji like an equal. It feels as satisfying as Patty and Carne's relationship looks. He gets to scream and poke and prod at Zoro and the swordsman entertains him every time.

But then of course he finds out it was because Zoro never thought he was an omega. Zoro treated Sanji like an equal because he saw Sanji as an alpha. And of course his behavior changes after he finds out. He's snappy and meaner than he used to be. Sanji mistakes it for genuine aggression, he thinks Zoro is worse now because he's got a vendetta against omegas or something.

Meanwhile Zoro is just in his own head waging war on a competitor. Sanji compliments his own cooking and Zoro has to choke back an insult, any time he calls himself handsome Zoro immediately thinks 'don't compliment my omega like that.' He knows it's stupid, and he can admit it's irrational- but that's not gonna stop him.

Sanji doesn't get why he's acting like that until Zoro slips up and uses 'my omega' out loud. Sanji knows Zoro's brand of stupid, it clicks almost immediately why Zoro has been acting differently. It's ridiculous... and kind of flattering. He sees Sanji as both a potential partner and a rival. But it's also really fucking stupid.

I've been trying to get my head back on track, but it's kind of exhausting. I haven't had a pen in my hand for months.

He puts it in some rice balls one afternoon and he fully expects for Zoro to not notice because the dude will put anything in his mouth if Sanji says it's edible and not think twice. Zoro doesn't seem to realize what exactly it is, but he definitely notices the difference in taste; he gives a genuine compliment to Sanji's cooking for once.

Surprisingly it works, Zoro is like completely docile for two days. He still starts arguments and everything, but it's not the usual snarling and screaming, it comes across as light banter now. After a while he comes back to Sanji and asks him to make him rice balls again, and if he can make them exactly how he did last time.

So it becomes a thing- he doesn't do it super often, maybe like once a week if he feels like it. Any time Zoro gets restless from being on empty sea for too long he starts to crave them. He pesters Sanji for them constantly just because they taste good. Sanji is honestly impressed with how well it works; it even helps him lower Zoro's alcohol intake.

Zoro doesn't realize anything is up until after Sabaody; he's alone and stressed and in pain. And for some reason the alpha part of his brain tells him he'd feel so much better if he could just eat the cooks food again- more specifically those goddamn rice balls. It confuses him to no end.

On another note, I think Sanji purring gives Zoro baby fever. Like, hear me out, omegas are known to purr a lot around babies and children, so whenever Sanji starts purring around the crew, his brain immediately goes "I need to put a baby in him so bad" which, if Sanji's up for it (he almost always is, he's very easy), will most definitely lead to them trying to make said baby regardless of the birth control Chopper makes for Sanji.

Zoro definitely has an obsession with making Sanji purr. It's like built into alpha dna to want to make their mates purr. But Zoro tends to take it to another level- like that's obviously the time when Sanji's feeling the most pleasure, and Zoro strives to make every time they fuck the best fuck of Sanji's life, so he likes to make him a purring mess and then fucks him properly.

I feel like Sanji's the type of dork that gets baby fever over everything. It's usually just the 'God, he'd make a really hot dad. I need to have his kids.' Zoro does get baby fever sometimes though. Like when he walks past the pack nest and sees Sanji purring softly and petting Chopper while he sleeps. Or the rare times when He finds him comforting Luffy in the middle of the night after a nightmare. Because when Sanji does those things he gets this really soft look on his face that's so full of love and all Zoro can think is that Sanji would be the perfect parent. It's the kind of baby fever that has him thinking about decades in advance and planning out their future lives together.

Coming back to Zosan, I think Zoro (and the strawhats honestly) would be like. Really set on trying to make Sanji purr.

I really like the idea that omegas only purr when they are really happy, relaxed and feeling safe, so even before Zoro starts courting Sanji (properly, cause instigating fights is Not a valid courting technique no matter what Zoro says [it works, cause they're freaks]), he's dead set on making him purr because making sure the crew feels safe is his job, so if Sanji doesn't purr = not feeling safe, and if Sanji not feeling safe = Zoro's not doing his job properly. So he does a lot of stuff from like, guarding the galley when he's making food to actively growling at anyone who dares look at Sanji wrong. They still fight and argue all the damn time, but Zoro makes it his mission to build Sanji the most safe most secure nest of all when he notices the cook is in pre heat (in my head, nests are made in really small and dark spots, like a closet), so he spends a whole day cleaning the closet in the boys' room and filling it with the crews clothes, and be does all that even before Sanji himself notices he's in pre heat. Sanji knows right away it's not a courting gift cause it has all of the crews clothes, but he looks at the nest and he almost starts crying. It's the first nest someone has built him (aside from Zeff, but that's his dad so it doesn't really count), and the attention the shitty swordsman put on it is like. So much. He makes sure to put bedsheets on the floor so the clothes and pillows aren't in direct contact with it, and then he makes sure to cushion on of the sides more, so Sanji has a place to rest his head, he stashed a few water bottles there, as well as extra bedsheets and some spare pajamas and loose clothes (if Sanji steals more shirts from the swordsman to use during his actual heat it's no ones business). But. The cook still doesn't purr, so Zoro keeps doing shit. And then Whole cake happens and it's actually the worst, cause Sanji is really stressed all the time and he's growling and Zoro doesn't know what to do so he just. Builds a little nest inside closet of the room that's supposed to be for the first mate (Zoro think he's never used it) and just grabs Sanji like a sack of potatoes one day and brings him there. He makes the cook stay in the nest and he's So Gentle. He takes Sanji's shoes and tie off, opens a few buttons to let his shirt a bit looser (they're fighting the whole time by the way, but not really fighting cause Sanji sort of sags from exhaustion and lets Zoro do whatever), so he bundles the cook like an omega burrito, and stays there with him guarding him from the outside.

And that's the first time Zoro has ever heard Sanji purr, and it starts as a slow thing, but it kinda explodes from there (if you've ever heard an old car, it starts really low, and then it gets Really loud). And then Zoro starts hearing he purr Everywhere, not just when they're alone, but whenever the two of them are together by themselves (which starts happening a lot more after that first time) he's especially loud.

And when Sanji lets Zoro hold him to his chest? It's the best feeling ever, cause Zoro can feel it with his whole body just how happy and content Sanji is.

(it's especially good after they start fucking, cause Sanji gets really malleable after the first round, but after Zoro's really done with him, Sanji's purr gets really loud and he's just sooo relaxed, sometimes Zoro gets one more round out him when's like that, and he purrs the whole time)

Omgg I also love omegas only purring when they're happy and/or relaxed. (I also like to think alphas have a very similar instinct to purr and in a lot of cases do it to spur their pack to purr. You know how when a wolf howls it starts a pack wide howl ? Like that lol)

The second it dawns on Zoro that he's never heard Sanji purr it immediately becomes a problem. Zoro isn't even fully aware of his feelings for the cook, but he takes Sanji not purring for his pack as a serious challenge and is fully dedicated to changing that.

Maybe it's because Zoro lacked a proper pack growing up, but any time one of his crew members doesn't participate in pack behavior it's like physically painful for him (which is one of the reasons why it took so long for him to realize how he felt for Sanji). Like whenever someone is not happy his little alpha brain is like 'you failed them.' and it stresses him out. Sanji always makes sure to scent the crew and he makes their pack nest, so at first the purring problem isn't really noticed. It's probably not until the first time he hears his other pack mates purr together that he realizes Sanji isn't joining in.

Once he actually understands how he feels about Sanji that need gets so much worse, like he's starting to look a bit pathetic with how desperate he's getting. Especially when he starts making the nests, he's never cared for cleanliness of being neat but all the sudden he needs everything to be perfect for Sanji.

I bet Zoro was silently fist pumping as soon as Sanji started purring the first time, like that such an accomplishment. Not only did he get a pack member to purr, he's also the first (and for a while only) person who's gotten to hear Sanji purr on the ship.

The first time Sanji played the poor omega in front of someone from the crew they had to do a double take to make sure Sanji hasn't been switched by a siren, because he was flirting with someone and it was working

And also, he found out the alphas in the crew physically can not say no to him when he looks at them through his eyelashes and gives a sweet little smile. Zoro is especially weak to these, but he will practically fall to his knees and follow Sanji's every command if he looks at the alpha and pouts a little, sometimes a little whine if he's feeling extra, then he has the marimo waiting at his feet for whatever command the omega might give

Lol it was such a shock to see Sanji actually use those kind of tactics. Like last they saw him, the crew thought he was a total dork- he could barely get girls to look at him. And then after they all get back together, Robin and Zoro witness Sanji flirt with a marine and successfully get her to let them go.

And once he finds out how easily his pack folds for him, Sanji uses against all of them. He has all the alphas running errands for him and doing chores when he’s ‘tired’. Nami would be pissed, if she wasn’t so impressed with how well he cons them sometimes. Like he has twice the supply budget in his hands now. Usopp knew right from the beginning that Sanji was gonna use that ability for evil. And now Sanji has somehow talked him into giving up his precious garden space for cooking herbs.

But poor Zoro has the worst of it. Because of course Sanji is gonna be petty and use it for everything. Sanji doesn't whine at first, he scents and does his dumb 'I'm just a little omega' act. But then one night he's drunk and Zoro won't get off his ass to carry Sanji to bed- so he whines. He honestly didn't think it would work, he figured Zoro would laugh in his face. But then Sanji sees the way he flinches at the sound, Zoro pulls him into his arms as if Sanji's in actual distress. Sanji brushes it off at first, Zoro was probably tipsy and took Sanji's joke too seriously. But he thinks about it a few days later and is really curious to know if Zoro really does fall for it. And he does. As much as Zoro hates it, he cracks every time Sanji whines. He just hates hearing his pack members in distress, okay? And sure, him and Sanji aren't mates yet- but in his mind they are, so any sound of discomfort coming from him makes Zoro feel like his world is ending.
