Yesterday I did a crazy thing. It happened by accident. I decided to become a better piano player this year. It makes me happy to create pretty music as well as pretty things. I happened to mention this to the choir director at church who happily gave me a piece that the choir was to sing! I thought it was just... to have a pretty piece of music to play! The next Sunday she asked if I had practiced it at all. This was back at the beginning of June! And... yesterday it ended with me playing this beautiful 10 page piece of music for our sweet tiny choir. I was a nervous wreck. I play for ME! I play for my children and husband! I had to restart 4 times. My son was my pages turner and casually stood up to block the audience from my view. “You’ve got this mom!” I have never almost wet my pants or puked in front of so many people. So scary. And to top it off... our organist was out of town so I was asked to play the opening and closing hymns as well! I would love to say I got all the fear of playing in front of people out in one day. But I totally didn’t. It was freakin scary. I am FINE talking in front of people. I would rather speak or even sing! Play piano.... that was new. That was hard. And... I DID IT! I am proud of me! I am so grateful for the gifts I was given. I hope I can use them to help others. To make them happy.
