So I was talking to my mom, and we ended up on the topic of her mother, my grandma. They had a really fucked up relationship, and ours isn’t that different. She talked about how her oblivious sister told her that she should make an effort to have a nice relationship with her mother, and how shitty that was, because my grandma was kind of an asshole to my mom. And she talked about not feeling sad when her mother died and not missing her... And I said “of course! how are you going to miss someone who only made you feel less than, who made you feel inadequate, who made you feel like shit?” and she has the audacity to turn around, laugh and say “does that mean you’re not gonna miss me when I die?”
