I like the idea of the human part of a mermaid acting as a lure to the big ol fish half. Like, they bask on rocks as vulnerable women to eat whoever approaches. The woman part does not reflect the mermaid's actual sex, it's just the most effective lure, and therefore gets replicated, like how bird beaks adapt to different food sources.

A last minute donation from @sentient-tent won the raffle, and came away with the sculpture I made! Thank you to everyone who took time out of their lives to donate to Kaarakin, say kind words, or just look at my art. Kaarakin holds a special place in my heart, and I know the 68.89 total raised will be well utilised by them.
Wish the sculpture good luck in it's journey overseas and into new hands!
Final hours for the raffle! 12 tickets purchased, you have until 11:59pm Perth WA time to add to the pool! Spiel below the cut!
I made this, and I don't want it! Do you? Then donate $5 AUD to the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre for a raffle ticket for this good boy! Dm me the receipt, and I'll ship this thang to the winner.
Donate here - https://blackcockatoorecovery.com/
I will be accepting all sent receipts until 11:59pm 30th April, Perth time. The winner will be chosen and announced May 1st. Shipping will be covered by myself, but any contributions sent to my Kofi will help in funding this. Any extra funds will be donated to Kaarakin unless explicitly asked by the donator otherwise. Please note that these Kofi tips will not qualify for raffle tickets, as I am not accepting bribes :p Additionally, there are no options to buy this outright, ya gotta wrestle in the mud with everyone else.
Please note, I did not make this sculpture with the intention of shipping it. It may not be the most suitable item for shipping, so while I'll take every precaution when packing it, and have reinforced the sculpture whereever possible to ensure it's longevity, I will be in the hands of the gods once it's packed. Pictures of the packing process will be sent to the winner, alongside it's state when packed. I don't want anything to do with it after I've shipped it off, as I no longer love my child. Any insurance I can take on the package will be taken, so we will hope for the best.
The sculpture is made of polymer clay, with an internal skeleton of wire and aluminum foil. It is free standing, and around 23cm tall. The sculpture itself is of a wolfdog, with what I thought a punk wolfdog would wear. Please note the muzzle, "DO NOT PET" signs and the spiked handle. I thought I was very funny. Assorted music references are on the jacket, such as Blur's Parklife album cover, Alice In Chains, Jessie's Girl, Crywank, Car Seat Headrest, etc, alongside other dog themed paraphernalia. If it's on there, it's dog themed.
If there's any glaring issues with it, please let me know before I ship it off, I might no longer love my child, but I want whoever gets it to get something decent.
Why did I choose Kaarakin? Because they are the only institution in the whole of WA that takes care of the endangered and treasured Black Cockatoo for the whole of the state, of which is 2,527,013 square kilometres (975,685 sq mi) of land. Their volunteers drive all over the state to pick up sick, injured, or killed birds. They receive no government funding, and are reliant on donations and volunteers to fund their projects. See the link on Kaarakin for more info on the three species they care for, that being the vulnerable population of Forest Red Tailed Cockatoo, endangered Carnaby's Black Cockatoo, and the critically endangered Baudin's Black Cockatoo. Recent actions by the American Alcoa mining company have further detrimentally damaged these animal's habitats, by clearing parts of the irreplaceble ancient Jarrah forests that these birds rely on, for mining purposes. Fuck Alcoa, all my friends hate Alcoa.
There's a reason my username is Birdbrainzs. I love birds so much, so if my life can help some of the birds I treasure, it'll be a life that was worth living.
Please leave any questions or concerns in the comments. I am inexperienced with this sorta thing, so if I can fix any errors, I'd be happy to. Please also note that these kinda sculptures are very labour intensive, and made purely for my own enjoyment, so I will be unable to offer commissions for them. They simply take too much time to be priced and sold for appropriate prices.
The raffle for this sculpture is still ongoing, with 7 days left. See prior post for rules, but tldr, donate $5 AUD (about $4 USD) to Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre, or a charitable cause of your choice, for a ticket. Here are some WIP photos for some behind the scenes action, plus the complied nicer photos. My workbench is a mess, I know. Plus, I suck at taking photos, both in general and in regards to documenting progress on my projects. Shipping is covered btws.
Only two tickets have been purchased, so odds are great for newcomers. If you have any questions, ask away.

New year, new wips. Turns out sculpting is simultaneously the best and worst thing I could do, because I will happily sink literal hundreds of hours into making sure I'm satisified with every detail, and I can just chop off parts I'm unhappy with. Also, I fuckin hate my phone's camera, it gives all my sculptures weirder proportions than they actually have, and I've had no luck modifying the settings.
I was thinking about how Marcille and Bayonetta have magic witch hair powers, and I physically couldn't stop myself from sketching it out. I'm unimpressed with my results, but you get the concept.
I gave her kind of a princess hat as a stand in for the beehive look Bayonetta has in the first game.
I've discovered that I really am a better sculptor than I am at drawing. Turns out that if your whole concept of drawing is "trying to sculpt on paper", you might be better off just sculpting instead.
