Jazz: him and Orion would have been best friends if D-16 wasn’t always around acting like guard dog. They would be a very chaotic funsy pair, Orion will tell the ‘good idea’ to Jazz and asks him sneak out with or come back with something he thinks Jazz would enjoy. Like a music data pad or small instrument.

I could see the vision where they stay late talking about future together; Orion definitely supports Jazz’s dream of becoming an artist (singer?) and Jazz listening to Orion yapping tirelessly imagining a life they would have if they’re not miners. (Marriage life *cough*) they act like a roommate that everyone confuses they’re dating or not

Also, I LOVE the concept of Jazz having a crush on Orion. It’s not a secret or anything in fact the whole department knows because Jazz didn’t try to hide it at all, Orion just too stupid to notice.

Prowl: he wouldn’t like Orion that much at first, he think Orion was a troublemaker and avoiding to get close to him— seeing how D-16 often gets involved in the mess. At the same time he was curious about this famous troublemaker mech because there’s no way someone that cautions and hardworking D-16 would still hang out with him if Orion was that bad.

Imagine a quiet serious presence that follows Orion everywhere (well—not THAT close) Prowl begins to learn more about Orion and the reason he keeps sneak into the archive. Stalking— getting information about Orion Pax has become a bit of an obsession to Prowl, well miners have limit options of entertainment anyway. He had to admit…that Orion Pax was an interesting bot. Still he didn’t try to get closer to Orion. Just admiring from far away.

The shot where Orion really made his spark lit up would be the Iacon 5000. He really impressed they would make it that far, Prowl was frustrated when Orion didn’t leave D-16 and head for goal tho. (Why is that? Hmmm)

Ratchet: I bet they spent time together a lot off screen lol. Orion always come back with a scratch, flat tire or worse got beaten up by cogged bot. And Ratchet was there to save the day, he’ll probably nagging Orion nonstop while fixing up this troublemaker miner which Orion never mind because he’s know Ratchet was just worried. Orion would tried to bribe him occasionally (or beg) Ratchet not to tell D-16 that he got into trouble. Spoiler alert; mostly doesn’t work, now he also got D-16 nagging him.

I think if there’s mining accidents happen, Orion would be one of the first person who take action (for example when Jazz stuck) the habit of breaking protocol to save others often made him injured too. Sometimes Ratchet wish he didn’t see Orion face in his office for a while, but when it actually happened he would thinking about his regular patients all the time.

Despite not being injured Orion still visited Ratchet daily. if not hiding from the guard, came to give his favorite doctor a gift from his trip as thanks that always treated him and being such great doctor. Ratchet sighed and smiled, offer Orion to come in his office for a drink.

Bonus D-16: aside from Orion he didn’t really close with anyone since his eyes always lock and focus on Pax. How can he not? One second off this bot and Pax already gone; causing trouble somewhere. Pax is more stubborn and out of control than a sparkling.

D-16 take position Orion’s number one best friend very serious. So every time some bot trying to steal this role from him—(oh no they not) D-16 start distracting Orion to talk to him instead. Leaving no room for others and sending messages with his intimidated eyes. Most bot back away but some doesn’t (like those three above) but seeing Pax still priorities him first felt like winning

The suddenness of the thought almost amused him for he suspected this one was not his own. Ever since his ascension to Prime, the Matrix would communicate with him. Not in the way a mech would comm another mech, but similar to how his own imagination matrix would produce ideas inside his helm. Optimus had a difficult time separating his own thoughts from something thought from the matrix- often only being able to distinguish them based on how fantastical or improbable the idea was. And traveling back in time four million years seemed quite fantastical indeed.

the conflict with megatron and the deaths of his autobots in his original timeline causes him to leave d-16 and fellow miners behind to try and fix it all with the high guard. might make it a optimus/some-of-the-high-guard situation. original thought was megop endgame, but there was wicked hatred between op and meg that carried over. optimus doesn't want to interact with d-16- he just has hope that he won't go down the same path. and he doesnt want to face the friends he got killed. bro could heal from these issues tho
