"Sit up straight." Allison looked over at her son and nudged his arm. "I don't want to be here either, but you're the one that wants to play field hockey." She was still unsure about the new sport, but it would give him something else to do during the summer beside his assigned reading and showing up unannounced at each of the neighbor's houses.

"The appointment will only take a few minutes. And then we'll see about having lunch, okay? I'll even let you pick." She smiled and fussed over his hair. His hands came up and brushed her away before he finally smiled over at her. Even if she wasn't sure about him playing the sport, at least it would get the requirements out of the way for football in the fall as well.

The weather today was too good to waste sitting inside. Normally she would let Lucky let around outside at home, but she had a few errands to run and it would be nice to take him with her. He stayed close to her at each stop until he realized which parking lot she had pulled into. The SUV rolled to a stop, and she laughed as she watched him excitedly bounce around and start to whine in the backseat. "Calm down. We're going."

The golden retriever looked at her and then back out the window at the dogs playing. He was barely able to hold his excitement when she opened the backdoor and watched as he jumped down. He tugged at the leash and almost dragged her the whole way until she opened the gate and slid his harness off. "Go play." The five year old immediately ran around the pack of dogs and started saying hello to everyone he could.

"Sorry. Sometimes I think he likes to come here to see people instead of other dogs." She laughed and walked toward the man Lucky was sniffing. "You can push him away. It's -" She paused when she realized who it was. "Hi, Dom."

Alli smiled as Finley held open the door and let her walk into the shop first. She knew what he was doing, but she'd let him be polite and pretend he wasn't trying to convince her to get him something new. She started to follow him when he went to the video games, but she stopped herself. "Remember, you only have thirty dollars." They both knew she was likely to give in if he wanted something more. She always had a hard time telling him no. She walked toward the register and looked at a few of the items near it. "Been busy today?"

"This tea is so good!" She smiled as she lifted the cup and took another big sip. She always loved getting to come in and support Rina whenever she came up with something new, and the Dine & Drink event gave her the perfect opportunity. "I don't know how you know what goes well together, but you've really found your calling."

She always tried to arrive early whenever she had plans to meet anyone, but today was not her day. Finely had made plans and then changed them up at the last minute, and she had to get something ready for him to eat before she left. He'd be fine on his own for a few hours, but he knew if he needed someone he could always go to one of the neighbors' houses. "I haven't been here in so long." She smiled and looked over the menu. She knew what she was getting, but she always liked to see what had been added. "It's so good to get to see you. I feel like all I've done since school let out is run Finley around. I haven't had time for much else. But how have you been?"

Alli picked at the candy she was holding before she turned to look at the woman beside her. "Carnivals are always so fun, but I always wonder how they would work for smaller events." She popped another piece into her mouth before offering the bag to Kennedy. "Have you ever had someone ask for any kind of carnival theme things?"

Alli moved through the crowd faster than she thought it would. It seemed like no one was moving, but she was able to find the right path through to get in line for the funnel cakes. All the lines were being directed to the same area and she stepped into line behind a familiar face. "Please tell me I finally found the right line for the funnel cakes." She smiled and looked at her friend. "Someone sent me to the one on the other side, and it was for corndogs."

Alli looked at her hair once again in the rearview mirror and ran a hand through it. She had put off visiting Sylvia for two weeks longer than she should. The summer was always a busy time, but she needed to make some time for herself. Or that's what one of the techs at the clinic said in passing when they commented on her hair getting long.

She walked into the salon and lifted the surprise drink for her stylist when she spotted her in the back. "I'll take a seat until she's ready." It was a nice reminder of how small Merrock could be when the receptionist smiled and checked her in without having to ask for information.
