#allamah

A youth sent a letter to Allamah Tabatabai asking for practical instructions for victory in overcoming the carnal self and to become governed by felicity.

Allamah replied:

“In order to become successful, it is necessary to summon will-power and repentance and it is for you to turn to self vigilance (muraqabah) and self-assessment (muhasabah) in the following manner:

- Everyday, upon waking, make a firm and serious intention that you will consider the pleasure of God in any action you perform. At that time, whatever action you want to perform, you will consider its otherworldly benefits. If there is no otherworldly benefit, you will not perform it—regardless of what it may be. Continue with this daily from wake to sleep.

- At the time of sleeping, spend 4-5 minutes thinking about the actions you performed during the day. Consider each one. One by one. Whatever you found was accomplished in conformity with the pleasure of God, express gratitude for it. Whatever was a transgression, seek forgiveness for it. Continue daily. Despite this method being difficult at the beginning and bitter for the carnal self, this method is the key to salvation.

- Before sleeping, if you can, read the chapters of the Quran that start with praising God such as Hadid (57), Hashr (59), Saff (61), Jummua’h (62), and Taghabun (64). If you cannot, then read Surah Hashr (59).”

Necessary advice for everyone is never forget God. This fact is incumbent upon everyone to practice, and to always be aware of it whether awake asleep and in any and all states that can be presumed. In this sense you should always be in observance of remembering God.

The heart of Quran

All of the Surah in the Quran are important but Surah Yasin is the key to many discoveries and blessings in the path of Irfan. Highly recommended by Late Allama Qazi(ra), Sheikh Hassan Ali Nakhodaki(ra), Sheikh Rajab Ali Khayat(ra), and many other great Urafa.

Every word in Surah Yasin has 10 mowakkaleen (angels) assigned to it. You can add all the words and multiply it by 10 if you wish to find out how many mowakkaleen are in surah Yasin.

Imam Sadeq(as)

Everything has a heart and the heart of the Quran is Surah Yasin. When someone recites Surah Yasin during the day before nightfall, Allah will give him refuge and increase his/her sustenance. When someone recites it before bedtime, Allah assigns 1,000 mowakkeleen (Angels) to guard him/her at night against the interference and disturbance of Shaytan (Satan) and also save the reciter from any calamity. In case a person dies in the morning, Allah will enter him/her to heaven. While 30,000 Angels descend from the skies and repent for him/her and accompany him/her to the gravesite.
