4. Weapon - Why Ido didn't want to unite Alita with the berserker body.
The novelization makes it clear why Ido refused to connect Alita to the berserker body.
It wasn't because he selfishly wanted her to be his "cute innocent little girl".
It was because he was against what the URM did to Alita (weaponising her).
So it wasn't "boo-hoo, overprotective dad suppresses his daughter, doesn't want to empower her".
No, dad recognizes someone did wrong to his daughter and wants to cut her from that.
Just a reminder it wasn't a black/white situation.
The 1st movie showed mostly the pros of the berserker body and Alita's connection to the URM (besides the fact she is being hunted for the tech she has). The cool, empowering side.
Now, I hope the sequels will show the cons of that. The dark side.
