The first time he ever really felt the draw, the need to be a father was just after Cecily was born. The thirteen year-old liked keeping an eye on her, helping out with the baby, burping her after feedings, even changing her diaper wasn’t so much of a chore to him. He loves children and even from that young age he’s been absolutely certain he wants a family of his own. Getting married, settling down, having a family, it’s one of his greatest goals in life, if not the greatest. And the kindness he sees flowing through Nadira makes him absolutely certain that she’s be a terrific mother and a person he would be happy to raise a family with. But ever since the day he decided he had to leave, he’s sworn that he won’t have a family while he’s still tied to the Heist. He won’t raise a family in this environment. He simply won’t do it. Yet with every passing year, he can feel that clock ticking. He’s getting older and before too long, he knows he’ll likely to be too old to keep up with little feet running around the house. He wants a family, but the gap in which to do so is thinning. It’s one more thing pushing him away from the heist and planting the seeds of a proposal in his head, because he can’t have the children he wants until he’s long gone.
