I’d REALLY like to do multiple Call of Cthulhu items for this post – but I need to learn self-restraint and not make a ton of work for myself. So for now, enjoy this one.

Mist Projector

Firearm, futuristic, martial weapon, ranged weapon, rare

To the untrained eye, the mist projector looks like an unusual tangle of metal tubes and wires, with a fluted nozzle and the vaguest suggestion of a handle.

The mist projector starts with 20 charges, and regains all charges when you finish a long rest.

As an action, you spend a charge to spray thick white fog in a 10-foot cone. This continual spray lasts until your next turn, at which point you can spend another charge to maintain the spray. Every creature that’s either caught in the initial blast or passes through the cone of fog must succeed on a DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or take 1d10 cold damage, half on a successful save. If the defending creature is wearing winter gear, resists cold damage, or has another cold-adaptive feature like goliaths’ Mountain Born, that creature may choose a Constitution saving throw instead.

The mist projector also freezes all liquids in range. Oozes and other creatures comprised of fluid (e.g. water elementals) make the aforementioned saving throws with disadvantage.

A creature that the mist projector reduces to 0 hp becomes a frozen statue until it thaws.

Aberration Tech. The mist projector requires 4 successful Alien Tech checks (DMG p.268) to use properly.

Since the mist projector is a result of alien science rather than magic, the mist projector is immune to all forms of antimagic.
