Okay so

Country/farmer! wars who grew up on a farm with his sister and parents, but when his parents started to get older and sicker, they had to sell off the farm so the family could move to castle town for better treatments and care. Sadly, his parents do die earlier than expected, so he now has to provide for his younger sister. He also is going through a lot of stuff mentally, so his first option is to join the army

Wars being an ‘ugly duckling’ as a kid.

He was a bigger kid with a ‘too big’ of a nose and an ‘odd’ accent. Being a worker at the farm, he was always bullied for his disheveled and dirty appearance, his moles/beauty marks being mocked as permanent dirt as his intelligence was mock. Kids being kids, they saw the youbg wars as dumb because he was a ‘bumpkin’ and while he did struggle with something, his parents did try their best to give him (and his sister) a good education with the resources they have

But when he joins the army, he starts to slim out. Mostly due to the combination of stress, depression, training and a new diet, his ‘baby fat’ -as his ma use to say- was worked away and replaced with hard muscles. He also became a select mute, not wanting to be picked on in the army as he was in his childhood and this was only reinforced when he became the ‘Chosen Hero,’ as he now worried about others not taking him seriously. Thankfully, he had Proxi to be his voice but eventually he was able to mimic the way and accent of the people of castle town and started to speak more and more throughout the war
