Again, Call felt the urge to punch Ripley, just to have something tangible to fight. The hybrid woman said terrifying things with such a calm and reassuring lilt--it was maddening.

Footsteps sounded from outside the door, clapping through the the hallway. The door burst open with ridiculous force, and Call’s desire to fight Ripley gave way to the impulse to grab her and hold her close.

Commentary:

This is a longer work, 136k of adventure. You indeed need not be an Alien fan to appreciate the story. Sci-fi love all around, a little guts, a little blood, in depth backstories, complicated feels, kickass women in space, apocalyptic type survival situations all included.

Oh, and this gem from the author’s notes: “...I've been trying to train my uterus using a retractable leash and a bark collar...”
