#alien!hiro

Man, that would be a hella short movie. Because Hiro would of course assume Tadashi hopped into the pocket dimension to escape the explosion, and all he has to do is try to pop into it himself. If he can’t, he knows Tadashi’s safe.

Honestly, it would then become the story of just how the hell did the brothers get these powers in the first place? Were they exposed to some sort of strange radiation and/or lightning as children? Are they secretly aliens? Screw Callaghan and the microbots, this is the story I need to hear!

Aunt Cass, the human who’s boarding them without knowing about the alien thing, is convinced that the brothers are keeping an odd menagerie of pets, because every time she goes to the upstairs apartment they’re renting, they seem to have a new animal lounging around on the couch. It has not yet occurred to her that she’s never seen said animals and Hiro in the same room, because she’s already convinced that the boys are really weird. It doesn’t help that even Tadashi, the more “expert” on human culture, still hasn’t quite grasped all the concepts of human behaviour. But even though she thinks they’re both really weird, Aunt Cass also thinks they’re both very sweet, and has a soft spot for them, which is why she often forgives the strange noises coming from upstairs and the crazy pets.

The boys are quite fond of her in turn, even Hiro who thinks most humans are gross. They grow so fond of her, in fact, that when their home planet starts discussing using the Hamadas’ research to try to conquer the planet, they immediately argue against it because they want to protect her. Cass might not be the same species as them, but she’s family to them now, dangit, and they’re going to keep her safe even if they have to fight off their whole planet!

Tadashi was old enough to know that he and Hiro weren’t quite human, but Hiro was so little he never really noticed that there was anything different between himself and the humans that took him in. Still the Hamada parents made sure to tell Tadashi over and over that they could not tell anyone about what they were or what they could do. And Tadashi listened

When their parents died and Aunt Cass took them in, Tadashi remembered his adoptive parents’ words, and told her nothing. Hiro had all but forgotten their extraterrestrial origins, so there was no risk of him saying anything, and their powers hadn’t kicked in yet, so Aunt Cass doesn’t know. Tadashi doesn’t even tell the rest of the SFIT crew.

The only other one who knows is Baymax, and that’s because Tadashi scans differently than a human. But Tadashi makes sure to program Baymax to keep his secrets right from the start, so the robot tells no one.

Tadashi’s powers manifest in the middle of the fire, allowing him to survive, but he doesn’t know what to do with himself after that. If he reveals that he’s alive, people will wonder why he’s unharmed, and those questions might dig up answers he’s been hiding since he was a child. But Hiro is so upset, and thanks to his secrecy programming, Baymax can’t even tell Hiro that he’s alive. All he can manage is “Tadashi is here”

But when Hiro starts manifesting his own powers during the fight with Callaghan at KreiTech, Tadashi knows he can’t stay hidden anymore. Hiro has no idea what’s happening to him, and the only person with the answers he needs is Tadashi. So Tadashi waits until they get home after the fight, and reveals himself.

Hiro does not take the news well. On the one hand, he’s furious Tadashi hid from them for so long. On the other hand, he’s already felt like a freak all his life, now he knows he really is one? And what will his new friends think of him?

Tadashi winces, because honestly he’s a bit worried about that too.

But to the brothers’ shock, their friends are honestly offended that they thought that they’d turn on the Hamadas just because they’re a little weird. I mean really, they hang out with Fred.

GoGo punches them on the shoulder, Honey Lemon tuts fretfully, Wasabi rolls his eyes, and Fred just complains that they kept such an awesome secret from him for so long. They don’t care one bit.

Meanwhile Baymax is standing nearby feeling very happy because his patients are all here together and safe and he doesn’t have to protect any more secrets

The nerd herd are all ex-criminals of some kind who used to work for Yama and Yama’s various higher ranking goons. But then they quit that life, and teamed up together in order to quit that life, and just want to be left alone in peace. But of course, they can’t have that. Enter Hiro and Tadashi, who show up in the back of Wasabi’s van, which was kind of a group vehicle for the nerd herd, and who are desperate to get to Akuma Island, a secret government facility off the coast of San Fransokyo.

The reason they need to get there is because their spaceship that they crashed on earth in is there, and they need to get to that in order to save the earth. The nerd herd are skeptical of the Hamadas’ alien status at first, especially Gogo, who keeps arching her eyebrow at the brothers as they sit quietly in the van back seat, squished between Fred and Honey Lemon. They all believe that the brothers are aliens after a few very dangerous encounters with government officials who are chasing them down, in which both Hamadas display terrifying powers in order to get the government ppl off their tail. After that, Gogo is the one who takes the wheel, and they’re on their way, zooming towards Akuma Island and whatever danger is headed their way next. 

I forget exactly what happens in the movie, but doesnt either Sara or Seth get actually captured and taken to the facility at one point? Imagine it being Hiro. The government scientists had the spaceship, but now they’ve actually got one of the aliens! they are so ready to cut into Hiro’s brain and see just how he ticks and where he gets his smarts from. But of course, Tadashi has been pleading with the nerd herd to help him save his brother, and thus the entire team busT IN right before Hiro gets sawed in the head. And now that they’re in the facility, they might as well attempt to get to their spaceship, even though they’ve thoroughly lost the element of surprise. The nerd herd help out, using their unique smarts and abilities as a team to protect Hiro + Tadashi as they search for their ship. After all, the fate of their two new friends AND the world are at stake here. So they fight with all they’ve got. 

As in Tadashi or Hiro thinks Hiro’s an alien? Or as in he turns out to actually be an alien? Because I couldn’t blame Tadashi if he looked at Hiro putting together a microwave from scratch when he’s still in diapers and assuming something is up.

But oh, what if Hiro was a Martian like Martian Manhunter? As in, he’s technically this scary green monster-looking creature, but he can shapeshift to look like just a little human kid. Imagine Tadashi coming down the stairs to make breakfast one morning, still groggy and half-asleep, only to see this monstrous creature waiting for him at the bottom, holding Hiro’s teddy bear.

Exactly! You’re dealing with an alien species from another planet where life evolved in a completely different way! Who knows if Hiro is even a carbon-based species? Maybe he eats pure nitrogen for all we know!

You have no idea how much I want to play with this AU.

Like, clearly as an alien, Hiro has a completely different culture and language and behaviour and biology, so even though he’s pretty sure these strange squishy creatures aren’t going to eat him (their teeth look WAY too flat, and where are their wrist scythes? Back on his planet, ALL the predators had wrist scythes!), he’s still not completely convinced they’re not going to kill him. And the lack of communication means they can’t reassure him either. They barely manage to get him back to Fred’s house without someone spotting them, and Hiro’s three seconds from freaking out the whole way.

Then comes the even BIGGER challenge. After all, they don’t know anything about Hiro’s species, or how their anatomy works, so when it comes time to patch him up (because if the crash left only one survivor, I doubt he’s well off himself), they’re all completely baffled. Tadashi finally steps up because out of all of them at least he has some idea of how medicine works. But his hands are shaking the whole time he’s working, because what if he screws up? What if this strange alien kid is allergic to cotton bandages? What if when Tadashi cleans the wounds with warm water, he finds out that water is poisonous to Hiro’s kind? What if he fixes him wrong

And of course Hiro can somehow tell that Tadashi is nervous, which makes him nervous, which makes him finally snap and freak out.
