Some of these are really old, Iām afraid. :( Weāre getting ready to migrate to Colorado, so Iāve had to spend time that Iād normally use to sit in front of a computer to pack and stuff instead. :) The plan is to leave on Wednesday, the 1st. I have a fondness for real-life restaurants with patio dining. Probably has something to do with being claustrophobic. Crowded indoor restaurants are difficult for me to eat in because I start getting that panicky āthe walls are closing in on meā feeling. So, whenever I have an owned restaurant in my game (which isnāt very often because theyāre honestly a bit of a pain in the butt to run :P), they always get a patio. I donāt use a same-sex pregnancy mod, no. I doĀ āunlockā same-sex pregnancy viaĀ āgenetic engineeringā when there are Sims high enough in both the Science and Medicine careers because my justification for it is that itās backward-engineered from what the aliens do. But I create such pregnancies with the Sim Blender, not with a pregnancy mod. Right now, thatās not yet unlocked, though, and it probably wonāt be in Aaron and Kennedyās lifetime. Which is a shame because they probably would make interesting kids, and Iād like to breed Kennedyās nose. :) Perhaps heāll end up getting alien-pregnant. :)

I have noticed this. Weather in this game is so cool.
It is very cool. I mean, yeah, I may hate it when tropical vacations get rained out, but thatĀ is realistic. And yes, the visual details in the game -- and not just when it comes to weather -- are just lovely. Itās the attention to that level of detail that I just love about the game...and that make the later games just seem sort of slap-dash in comparison.

Well, Iām glad Iām not the only one! :D I think I might have not noticed it because it does have to hail for a while for it to accumulate. Usually, hail storms in my game are pretty short. But that time, it went on for a while, so...yeah.

Really? Canāt play it as in you canāt get it to run, or canāt play it because you get bored with it? The story partĀ is kind of boring, IMO, especially because I donāt really like directed play, but it is a good introduction to how the game works (and how itās different from TS2, for those of us used to playing that), and once you play through it to unlock everything, free-playing the game is actually quite fun. Itās the perfect game for the sort of scenario I play in it, which is a sort ofĀ āpost-apocalyptic, almost everyoneās dead, letās repopulate the worldā sort of thing. Sure, you CAN do that in TS2, but the way Castaway is structured without traditional careers and without LTWs and modern conveniences and stuff, itās just easier and feels more...I dunno, organic? Plus, itās just dang pretty once you add in stuff like custom skies and whatnot. :)Ā
I do wish that it had some of the stuff that TS2 has (especially the ability to grow food beyond the fruit trees that the game has), but I intend to see if any of Sun and Moonās custom crafting stations and harvestable crops will work in the game. They might, since there is crafting and crafting stations in Castaway... *fingers crossed*

Thank you! I think itās going to be lovely when itās done as well as fun to play. I learned some lessons from my first stab at the concept, and hopefully Iāve remedied them for this version of it. I just have to curb my impulse to over-hood-decorate it with lots of high-res stuff. Either that, or give in and buy a more powerful power supply and a fancier video card for my Simming computer. :)

It's crazy how much bigger a lot looks when combining it with hood deco! It's so seamless :)
Yeah, thatās why I love incorporating neighborhood deco into lots. I donāt actually like TS3ā²sĀ āopen worldā concept because for me it gets overwhelming especially if Iām playing larger families with Sims all over the place. I tend to lose track of them, and I donāt like that. But I do like the appearance of an open world. So, in TS2, I try to make the world look as open as possible without it actually being open. In my perfect game, thereād be no icky-looking lot imposters but rather high-res lot imposters, to complete the illusion. But since I canāt have that...Well, incorporating hood deco into lots does help the illusion, makes everything look contiguous and seamless instead of just random lots haphazardly plopped down.
The only bad thing is that placing invisible fences (so that Sims donāt walk through the on-lot deco) is kind of a pain in the butt since, you know, you canāt see them as youāre placing them. But itās a small price to pay. :)

I was so worried as well, you guys. The crazy thing is that just before I opened up the game that day, I wondered why I hadnāt had any sick sims. I began to think my game was broken and I had somehow messed up the disease system. I donāt know what I would have done if she had died, I LOVE her! And she unfortunately canāt make Comfort Soup...but the hope is that she will learn the healing spells soon.Ā

Iāve pretty much, with a little Georgian/Victorian overlap (Mostly in the form of āundressā, unmentionables, and athletic stuff.) decided to dedicate this particular hood to Regency styling. (So thereāll be a lot of suits too.)
I think all three of you, even you, Kiri, will be somewhat excited for the next bit. It includes a few things you can use even without playing a period game.
