I’ll start with scrapped characters.

There was originally going to be a character called “muffin”. She was a pink & white bat, butterfly, vampire thing who fed on people’s negative emotions in the form of (big surprise) muffins. She had the ability to like… make people happier when she did this. I ended up scrapping her because she didn’t fit the serious tone of the story, I already had Sunfire for comedic relief, and her lore was just poorly written in general. Void’s favorite food is muffins as a reference to her since they were going to be close friends.

This is the last drawing I made of her & it’s the closest you’ll probably ever get to me redesigning her lmao.

Two other rejected characters are a purple cat butterfly thing (who I’m 99% sure I just called “cat”) and a mossy goat(?) creature who’s name I entirely forget. They were best friends (or lovers possibly?) who lived in a forest near the city of Solori. The goat was abandoned by their parents and cat lost her wings and got kicked out from wherever cat butterfly people live. They’re also referenced in the plot of Solori but I can’t quite explain how yet…

there was originally an entire enemy kingdom ran by an evil scorpion dictator. He forced all of his citizens (who were actually butterflies… I genuinely don’t remember having a butterfly obsession but they keep coming up wtf) to wear scorpion armor because he was afraid of them being too weak or something. They’re referenced in the armor worn by the exoid guards at the beginning of chapter 1. I ended up removing them because they distracted from the main plot too much and honestly weren’t very interesting.

Also Sarah was originally from an entirely different universe. She was gonna accidentally stumble across Sunfire sneaking random things into a portal, follow him through, and realize how awful life is there and try to fix it. Which isn’t crazy different from the current plot if you ignore the multiverse thing. (It’s also weirdly a lot like the first episode of the owl house which wasn’t even a thing when I came up with this)
