rules: post a gif picture of five favorite female characters. i’m also gonna yap
Sabriel
Sabriel’s got dark magic powers and makes competent, sensible decisions throughout her story given the information and experience she has (which isn’t much). She’s heir to a bloodline of necromancers but also worked hard for her skills. She has an eldritch cat. She’s awesome and I cosplayed her once.
-From the Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix, which starts out with the eponymous book Sabriel.
Shen Li 沈璃
She’s badass, she’s straightforward, she has a flaming spear, and she knows what she wants. She has a second-in-command twink and the last god in the universe making heart eyes at her. She goes to hell and back and never changes who she is. I miss her!
-From the TV show 《与凤行》 The Legend of Shen Li (2024).
Lyra Belacqua
Lyra’s charming, headstrong, and is the best at getting into Situations. I am blown away by how entertaining and consistent of a character she is.
-From the His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman.
Agatha Heterodyne
MAD! SCIENCE! (Actually more like mad engineering but whatever you say, my lady.) As the main character of a 20+-year webcomic, she has a lot of character development under her belt. I like that she seems to have settled into a slightly amoral range, despite her overarching goal of saving the continent.
-From the webcomic Girl Genius by Phil and Kaja Foglio.
Sydney Bristow
I was obsessed with this show and Sydney’s dimples for a couple years. She’s sharp, deadly, and has a boatload of daddy issues. Her boytoy always looks like he’s secretly sad about something.
-From the TV show Alias (2001).
I’m feeling shy about tagging people explicitly, but do the game if you wanna. It’s fun!
inspired by recently rewatching the alias pilot -
the gender-flipped version of “women in refrigerators” should totally be “men in bathtubs”
Jack Bristow is soooo sad and wet I’m kinda obsessed.

You were the last person that I ever wanted to see again-- ever. And You were the only person that I ever wanted to see again.
