Remembrance Day 2025Ā
Today, I heard something that genuinely stopped me in my tracks. A 100-year-old World War II veteran, Alec Penstone, said that the country isĀ worse now than it was when he fought for it.Ā Let that sink in. A man who faced down tyranny, who served aboard HMSĀ CampaniaĀ on D-Day, one of the defining moments of our history, now looks upon the nation he defended and feels disappointment. That should shame every single one of us.
Penstone doesnāt call himself a hero. He says his heroes are the comrades whoĀ didnāt make it home. The ones who gave everything for freedom, honour, and country. On this Remembrance Day, his words cut deeper than any speech from a politician ever could. They remind us that remembrance isnāt about wearing a poppy for a photo or sharing a token post online. Itās about what we do, how we live, how we protect what they fought for.
And yet, look at Britain today. The moral decay. The loss of identity. The constant infighting, the cultural self-hatred, the erosion of values that once defined us.
People are glued to their phones, too distracted to notice the decline. A society that has traded respect for heritage and sacrifice for selfishness. Weāve gone from the spirit of Churchillās Britain to a confused, complacent mess where even the wordĀ patriotismĀ offends people.
Iāll say this clearly: I am ashamed. Ashamed of how the country has turned out. Ashamed that men like Alec Penstone are made to feel their sacrifice was in vain. They fought against oppression, not so we could surrender our freedoms voluntarily to bureaucrats and ideologues.
Our next General Election may very well be our last real chance to turn this around to reclaim our nationās dignity, to restore freedom, and to secure a future worth inheriting for the next generation. If we fail to act now, if we remain silent, we betray those who stormed beaches and flew into flak-filled skies.
Alec Penstoneās generation didnāt fight so Britain could forget who she is. They fought so she could live free. Itās up to us now to make sure their fight wasnāt for nothing.
