"Alina, are you sure you're okay?" Councilor Liora asked, looking at Alina's unusually messy hair. Alina had been acting a bit weirdly, from her stepping down from the council to this.
"I'm fine, fine, fine." Alina said, she was just too excited.
Liora looked at her a bit weirdly, "Alright them, see you later."
"Okay, bye." Alina said, her attention already back to the mirror.
Alina straightened her hair, then curled the edges.
Today she would be meeting with Alden, to renew their friendship.
She looked at herself one last time, gave the mirror a tentative smile and walked out the door.
Alina walked in The Delicacy, a famous restaurant that Alden had asked her too.
She flashed pleasant smiles at everyone, heading to a familiar figure who was drumming his fingers nervously.
"Alina! It's been too long." Alden flashed her bright smile, which immediately made Alina sorry for everything she did to him.
I don't deserve his friendship. Alina thought as she slid in the opposite seat.
Alden picked up the menu, "Before everything, let's order."
"Agreed." Alina smiled, and picked hers up too.
"Their mallowmelt is amazing." Alina said between bites.
"Yes, you should try the orpherberries." Alden said, sliding a plate to her.
Alina nodded gratefully and they both ate in silence.
"You know, I'm sorry." Alina blurted out. Then nearly covered her mouth, she had never said something like that.
"You know, the wedding and stuff."
Alden blinked, "Alina, that was about 50 years ago! We're over that."
"I know, I just wanted to say that I'm, well, sorry." Alina looked at her hands.
Alden took her hand, "It's fine. We're friends now...right?"
Alina smiled, "Of course!”
They walked out the door and Alden said, "Also, congratulations on getting a girlfriend."
"Shut up." Alina smiled, though a bit nervously, Alden being the first one not to tease her about it.
Alden grinned at the look on her face, and they both knew that they were genuine about this newly repaired friendship.
