As the federal inquiry into murdered and missing indigenous women and girls continues to ramp up, a woman from Alderville First Nation whose daughter is one of those victims is sharing her story.

Compared to indigenous populations in other developed countries with similar colonial histories, HIV prevalence rates in Canada are 5-6 times higher. In her forthcoming project, grantee Daniella Zalcman reports from Canada on what healthcare provisions are in place for Canada’s indigenous population living with HIV/AIDS—a community already stigmatized and deeply marginalized.
