Yeah, I’m living in a low state of constant, quiet panic these days.
“I’m not going to bite you, Alarian,” Darien muttered to see the Sage’s reaction.
“Well, why not?” Alarian immediately protested, and heard the words far, far too late. He saw those keen green eyes go wide, and buried his face in the coat. “I did not say that,” he declared, voice muffled.
“Pretty sure you did.”
“I did not, you heard wrong.”
“Pretty sure I didn’t,” there was laughter in Darien’s voice, when he’d been sure after last night’s fighting that it would be a long time before he could find humor or joy in anything again.
“Don’t laugh at me!”
“I’m not laughing at you!” Darien laughed.
