Akrinok and Selena Analysis.
Okay, guys, I’m going to talk about Akrinok and Selena once again, this time of the reason of why they still linger around the castle.Â
In Selena’s case, it’s a decision of her own free will. When she dies, she doesn’t have the heart to leave her sons by themselves, especially with Akrinok. Even though they cannot see her, both Xibalba and Zipacna unknowingly feel her presence. Marigold saw her countless times as a baby, but when she turned eight could not see her anymore. During her childhood Marigold thought of her a an imaginary friend, and yet she felt she was real. Selena continues to watch over her family ever since, and it was thanks to her that Xibalba’s resentment to Marigold for La Muerte’s death disappeared.
Akrinok is a similar case. But he directly manifests to Xibalba, his younger son; as I mentioned, Akrinok is a sort of manifestation of Xibalba’s ears and insecurities (as well as his resentment to his father), and will continue to haunt him until he can stand up to him emotionally and psychologically. However, Akrinok’s spirit has a different demeanor with Marigold; he is polite, gentle and some might even say kind. While no one would believe it, Akrinok does care for his granddaughter, and laments the fact he didn’t get to meet her.Â
Hey, everyone. This time I’m uploading a picture I found of my abuelo... Just... Don’t tell papá I know about him, please, I’m afraid he’ll get mad at me. I mean, I’ve heard what his father used to do to him, it must be very painful to him to even think about him. A part of me is glad that he is dead, I’m not sure if I would have liked to meet him.Â
