This was 26 years ago. 26 years!! I was unfortunately in juvenile detention and had been for 3 years for a slew of crimes. I was reckless and had a total disregard for life and authorities. These are my parents. They did the best they could with what they knew and understood. But they couldn’t control me. It was my mother who got me locked up. She was the one who called the law on me. When I found that out she and I didn’t talk cuz I was mad but I got over it once I understood why she did it. To save my life. Had she not I probably wouldn’t be here. I’m saying all this to say don’t give up on these young people. They need good examples and people to support them and tell them the truth of what’s out here in these streets.
