Esprit de Valandor

J'ai hésité longuement à m'attaquer à cette figurine.

Mais l'esprit de Valandor m'a donné du courage, surtout pour faire le mieux possible tous les détails dorés.

J'étais assez septique de ce que cela pouvais donner. Mais c'est pas si mal que cela.

J'en ai profité pour essayé les "Metallic Liquid Markers" de AK Interactive (https://ak-interactive.com/product-category/paints/metallic-liquid-markers/)

Et en premier, ce ne sont pas des marqueurs ! C'est plus proche du stylo plume que d'un vraie marqueur. La pointe est très dure. et pas du tout souple.

C'est bien pour les très petite surface et des détails, pas plus. Pour faire la pointe de la lance, j'avais l'impression de gratter la sous-couche. Mais le rendu est limite de l'effet miroir.

Here’s my first Squiggly Beast from Games Workshop. I got it as well as the rest of the herd from an Issue of Stormbringer magazine. I wanted its mouth to look all wet so I used a gloss varnish not sure it’s that easy to see in my bad photos.

I’ve been using some Muddy Ground from AK Interactive on my bases recently and I really like it I’m going have to look into more of their stuff. This is the first use of my Greenstuffworld leaf hole punch, except to see some for autumnal bases from me.

WIP base for the void dragon. Once again, AK Interactive's products are great.

I prefer “picnic” modelling

There has been a lot of controversy these days for a book published by the AK firm on modeling on sensitive issues in history such as the Holocaust or the massacre of the Hutus, they have been of poor sensitivity and commercially exploiting a very sensitive issue.

I want to say that they defend that it is still a form of artistic expression that also has to illustrate the aspects of history that we do not like but that are there and have to be remembered, not even to avoid repeating them. I feel bad about the authors of the work that surely they were not expecting all the mediatic noise

After that, I declare myself in favor of a modeling that I call a “picnic”, versus the inherent cruelty of war. Let me explain, I see many dioramas where tanks circulate through peaceful agricultural lands exchanging opinions with the peasants or a tank that serves for a us soldier to bring some flowers to the balcony of his French girlfriend: one could think what the crew of the panzer could do Regarding the Russian peasant women or in an Okinawan diorama filling it with corpses, but we appreciate dioramas with surfaces that look like golf country where a Russian platoon moves calmly surrounding the T34 or a British tank crew eating while one plays the guitar. are they unreal dioramas? And so much so, where are the dead people (it is curious the small number of commercial figures of the dead with the variety that there is) where are the mutilations? where the humiliations of civilians and prisoners? they are simply not there. And it seems fine to me, even if it's unreal Although modeling is an art in the hands of a few privileged people where all the cruelty of the human being can be expressed, for most of us it is a hobby, an escape from everyday life and as such it should be peaceful and pleasant, already enough cruelty we witness every day and not just on TV. For me it is like a Zen activity that surely explains why most military modelers are especially peaceful and friendly people.
