  If you’re having a rough day, and generally the humidity is keeping you cranky through the day (much like Moi!), there’s nothing like catching yourself in the mirror every now and then in some upbeat & vibrant shades of Yellows and Pinks….or Reds and Oranges…you know, whatever rocks your boat!

  Put together this vibrant combo to fight a rather slow and “chip chip” day. I’m sure I tied my hair into a very high and tight bun right after this soot, but hey….can’t blame a girl for wanting to flaunt her hair on one of those rare good hair days ! ; )

This month has been so eventful and festive for most of us Indians! With the occasions lined up right from the beginning until the very end of October, we’ve had little time to soak in much of anything else. Navratri, Durga Puja, Dussehra, Karvachauth, Diwali and the festive spirits that accompany them leave little to no room for us to reflect on the bigger picture. So I thought of talking about something a little different this post…something more important than everything else that has consumed us all this month! We’re all bombarded with the bright and beautiful visuals that celebrate these occasions all over social media, but little do we hear about another movement, that’s quite significant in the month of October. At least, here in India….I feel we hear and talk of it way less than we maybe should. We’re all up to our necks with the festivities and the wedding weeks, but I wonder how many of us have had the chance to get familiar with #Pinktober. The month of October has been marked in the calendars worldwide as the month to raise awareness of Breast Cancer. And I just wanted to take one post out of the many this month as my little way of becoming a part of this international movement!

A while back, I had noticed that our censor boards beep out words like “Breast”. Even if the conversations were about Cancer and other clinical issues, they’d censor it out for the Indian television viewing. That right there says so much about the lack of information we’re provided with and about how somebody who isn’t very tech-savvy and internet friendly is ripped of all the opportunities to ever even get the chance to be cautious and take educated and informed steps! It’s so important to familiarise and educate ourselves with the basic facts, signs and self checks…and it really helps bust so many myths that we may have of things we haven’t heard much about. For the longest while i assumed that this was something pre menopausal women had to worry about, and that nobody really under the age of 35 would ever have to be concerned of it. But only on taking out the time to get informed about it helped me understand how wrong I was!

Here’s a look I put together as an ode to all the Breast Cancer fighters and survivors for Pinktober! I’ve taken one of my recent purchases from Ajio.com which is actually a T-Shirt nightdress, and I’ve paired it with Pink pantyhose and sneakers. The accents of Green add a quirkier, and more cheerful twist to the look. Hope you guys have found this slight deviation from the festive posts refreshing!
