Deltarune chapter 5 and Snowgrave...
JARONA, well, first of all, Chapter 5... it was an absolute masterpiece. I love being able to explore every single corner and discover all the hidden secrets on my own, and this chapter was FULL of them. When I unlocked the platforming mode, it completely blew my mind. My last major gaming experience was Silksong, and now you give me a mechanic that reminds me of it? Pure cinema.
Story-wise, it was really good. Not quite as insane as Chapter 4, but there were still some huge developments, like Asgore's knowledge of the Dark Worlds, the fulfillment of the prophecy about the flower split in two, the Jealousy Hell (Ralsei was absolutely unhinged throughout the entire chapter XD), and above all, Pink's beautiful dialogue about cats and protein... Could that be referring to a certain little cat that's been hunting us since Chapter 2? 👀
Speaking of Pink, the flowers are some of the best characters in the game. They're all incredibly charming, and you get attached to them so easily. AND IT DRIVES ME CRAZY that they're the only ones, besides Gerson, that we can't bring back to Castle Town. I'm so excited to see where the story goes next, it was fantastic.
Now, the Snowgrave route... or the Weird Route, whatever you want to call it. I used this playthrough to fight the Roaring Knight and Eram, since I didn't do that on my first run... and it completely blew my mind. I think it's the first time I've experienced something like this in a game. Watching how we slowly destroy Kris and Noelle, seeing all the consequences of our choices, the way Kris constantly tries to resist us... dude, the conversation between Kris and Noelle in Chapter 5 left me speechless. And when I, the player, started talking to her... I got chills. Then Chapter 5 ends with that little swimming lesson... absolutely incredible.
I swear I've spent the last two weeks consuming nothing but Deltarune content. I've thrown myself headfirst into the fandom. I watch theories, I spend hours listening to the soundtrack while I work (help, Burning Eyes is taking over my brain), and honestly, this has all the makings of being the best entertainment experience I'll have this year. My next goal in this game is to do a 100% perfect pacifist run. That way I'll have my normal save file where I just play however I want, my Snowgrave save file, and my 100% perfect save. The things I still have left to do are collecting every egg, finding all the Shadow Crystals, and fighting Mike.
