I’m a TA, but my hesitation’s in the fact that the submission wasn’t for an official grade. (They’re drafting for a later assignment.) I mean, I’m pissed, but I’m uncertain if my anger toward an ungraded assignment warrants severe punishment beyond an angry email and closer attention to any future submissions.

I have no clue whatsoever. I still don’t understand the reasoning. I mean, it would’ve been bad if it were some random piece of writing I did. For instance, if someone copied a bunch of information from a bullshit piece of flash fiction I posted online, I’d be bother, but I’d ultimately *shrug* and say oh well. Unfortunately, what she copied was an undergraduate thesis which took two years of my life to generate and represents unpublished material which investigates my field of research in new territory. This shit is personal.  

I know! I started reading the paper and noticed first that the header were the same as an example I’d given. Headers are no big deal, so I let it slide, but I kept reading and started recognizing my own phrasing (as well as some weird wording on the student’s part). After pulling up the document with my original writing and comparing the two side-by-side, all of the transitions were exactly the same, the pacing of description were nearly identical, and some details (completely not applicable to the student’s work) were studded throughout her paragraphs. It’s appalling. 

That’s super cool!! I don’t know if we’ve been streetpassing because I never leave my house, but STILL AWESOME!!! :D
