“Yes?” Arthur beamed, leaning forward almost to the tipping point.
“Why fruit cake?”
“I always bring fruit cake on boxing day, Skip. One for everyone in the crew!”
“Right. Well, as I said, two things:”
“Yes?”
“Firstly; it’s not boxing day.”
“Right.”
“Secondly, we don’t work together anymore.”
Arthur did not deflate. If anything, he leaned further in. “I wanted to see you.”
“Also, I’m not sure this is cake.”
“That’s three things. Four if you count ‘why fruit cake’”.
“Five,” Martin mumbled, kissing him defeatedly.
