Aiton that is a sweet whimsy lover is cute and all, but consider. Unhinged Aiton who can keep up with Makoton's nonsense. Aiton who's petty, jealous, just as capable of stirring arguments as Mako, but with rolling his eye and giving silent treatment rather than jumping at people. Immature fights over everything because neither have prepared to date anyone long term, let alone a fellow soldier on the desert outpost.
Yet in how dysfunctional it looks, there's so much joy and love behind it. They're learning, stumbling, trying things together. Each smile Aiton cracks or each pause Makoton takes is celebrated. Each failure is noted and considered on the second, third, fifth attempt. Sometimes they may tackle each other when they get too pent up, and break out in laughter when they're too tired to keep going, forgetting what they even fought about.
I think there's something really raw and genuine about two emotionally stunted men (Makoton with his anger issues, Aiton with being avoidant) who found their spark in someone they least expected. The forced proximity making them learn to tolerate, and later cherish one another without the pressure of expecting something out of it.
Happy S. Valentine's day ππππππ
I mostly use it as an excuse to draw my favourite couples but to each their own, right?
i will die on the hill that, based on my best pattern analysis of japanese ship names, aikoto should be the ship name for aigis/kotone and aimako should be for aigis/makoto. but aigis/makoto stole aikoto because of english ship names and now aigis/kotone is stuck with a bad ship name (hamugis) (it doesnt even use one of her canon names) (half the stuff i see of them isn't even tagged with it presumably because it makes no sense)
I could mention any random pairing. I could say βmakoto x aiura anyoneβ and somebody would go π€ thatβs actually based. Love that about this fandom tbh. weβre all so β¨imaginativeβ¨ hehe

Potential Patapon spoilers, themes of grief, angst, emotional abuse below. Proceed with caution
Funny how we don't get to meet most demons the zigotons sold their souls for. But we can assume most were just power hungry so it didn't really matter who lended their powers to target Patapons..
Besides Ghoul Gate Babaan.
For some reason, out of every single person in the army who agreed to Queen Kharma's proposition (or was forced to), this demon got a whole separate level, which I find really interesting. There's probably something that separates it from others, but what could it be?
In my eyes, it's a siren. The kind of demon that jiggles keys in front of their victims and hope they fall for it. And, well, Makoton has a very obvious weak spot.
After General Gong fell, there was nobody else left to keep him in line with his grief that was eating him alive. One of the strongest soldiers in the empire, with an open wound you could easily weaponise. What more could you ask for?
I really think other demons also attempted to target Makoton, while Gong was still alive. But one mistake they've made, is assume he would be loyal to them right away, over Aiton. What did Babaan do different, then?
It didn't fight it. It worked with it.
Possibly impersonating Ai, possibly gaslighting Makoton that surely he's out there somewhere, all he has to do is get strong enough to reunite with him. Isolating him and making his hurt a hundred times worse with giving him hope he's still there, because being blinded with revenge makes him overlook all the demon signs Gong taught him.
The worst part? Scorpiton did realize he was being played at the very end.
Going into this again. Imagine trying so damn hard to fix something, just to realize in your last moments it was all a charade. Especially as he says it after Babaan died, so any comforting illusions it gave to Scorpiton went down with it. It's heartbreaking, really.
Makoton wanted to be strong, but more than anything he wanted to be strong enough to avenge Ai. To prove his death wasn't meaningless. And Babaan took advantage of that.
