I mean he's still a 9th level Warlock, so he has access to all of those spells still, he just doesn't really use them all that much.
Right, the point was that many people (myself included) were all like “ooh, multiclassing into paladin means Fjord now has access the paladin spell list! And because he’s still a L9 warlock, he can take 1st level smites once he’s a L2 paladin, but cast them at fifth level! This changes everything!” as if he didn’t already have access to four whole smite spells prior to multiclassing, while being a Hexblade warlock, a subclass that is arguably perfectly designed for using your bonus action on a spell (since you’re probably going to do a melee sword attack or a cantrip with your action).
Like, it’s still an option for him to swap out warlock spells for the high level smites on his subclass list, he will eventually have access to three more smite spells as a paladin, and he’ll have more spell slots to cast them with albeit at lower levels, but dude could have been smiting on the regular from level 1 whether or not he multiclassed.
(per CritRoleStats the only smite he actually took as a warlock was Wrathful Smite and he has used it a grand total of once)
