“You came back,” she said through a short breath. He broke at the disbelief in her voice, smoothing his palm over the hair at her nape. “I never left.”

Ok I’m finally going to read An Heir Comes to Rise! It’s been hard making myself read the first book because I know one half of the ship I know I’ll love (thanks BookTok and Tumblr) doesn’t appear until book 2. Anyways here we go!
I just think that one character reaching up and placing their hands on anothers waist to help lift them down from a horse, their bodies coming oh so close together as the second person slides down, chest to chest with the first, their eye levels meeting for a moment before the first settles the second person on the ground, never breaking eye contact the whole time as they share a heated stare and let out a ragged breath in a will they or won't they kiss moment, until one takes a step back, is a top tier trope

These are my favourite kind of descriptions of fictional men
“Faythe singled him out as their leader. Only, he didn’t wear a crown of any kind on top of his silver-white hair, bright even from the moment she fixed eyes on him at the bottom of the stone path.
General Reylan Arrowood, famous white lion of the south.”

“To anyone else, he looked like a simple foreign merchant—one who would likely deal in unsavory goods from the way he casually picked at his nails with his dagger, holding a demeanor that dared someone to approach.
But he was staring right at her out of the corner of his eye, that damned emerald color piercing right through the blanket of darkness beneath his hood even from across the square.”

“What’s your name?”
“Nik.”
