It had been Micah's idea to grab something to eat for lunch after he and Dani had gone on a run through the park.
Carrying the food truck packages of food through the park towards a bench, Dani laughed as Micah chose to sit on the grass instead, moving over to join him as the sun shimmered down over the park.
A tingling up the back of Dani's neck left her glancing around at her surroundings, her eyes drifted over someone reading a murder mystery book on a bench, a young couple with their toddler in a pushchair heading up the path, and a man in a suit walking past on his phone, briefcase in hand.
Taking a forkful of her lunch into her mouth, Dani raised an eyebrow as someone sat next to the individual on the bench, the two grinning at each other as the murder mystery book was bookmarked and closed, Micah cleared his throat, breaking Dani's focus as she turned to look at him.
"What do you think, Agent?" Agent Atlas enquired, getting straight to the point as they picked up your book, glancing over the blurb and pretending all was normal.
"She just as in the dark as everyone else." You concluded, watching Dani from the corner of your eye as your face melted into a frown - this was a waste of time, and not fair on Dani at all.
"Then this undercover operation will be finished quickly, and we can go back to HQ." Atlas replied, opening the book to reveal the device inside, showing you the message as you grimaced - it wasn't over.
