TITLE: When Worlds Collide
PAIRING: Marcus/OC
RATING: T
CHAPTER: One-shot
SUMMARY: Fury sends one of his agents to get to know the Heroics.
[A/N - I've seen a lot of Avengers x We Can Be Heroes crossovers and wanted to try my hand at it. Iâm already planning a part 2 to this. This takes place before the fall of SHIELD (when we were all so innocent).]
Fury approached Alexa while she was in the training with Clint and Natasha. âAgent Schofield! A moment in my office?â
âOoooo,â Clint teased her. He barely had enough time to duck before her knife found itâs way into the wall behind his head.
âNow, Schofield,â Fury said.
She flicked her wrist and the knife returned to her hand. Alexa followed the Director to his office where he pulled up footage of a team of Superheroes working together.
âThese are the Heroics.â
Alexa snorted at the stupid name.
âTheyâre based out of San Francisco. Iâd like you to visit and report back.â
âIs this a mission, sir?â Did he want her to gather intelligence to recruit them or something?
âYouâll be meeting with the founder Anita Moreno and her son Marcus. Theyâve been made aware of your arrival. You leave in an hour.â
Alexa nodded and made her way to her bedroom to pack. As she was coming out of her room, she ran into Clint and Natasha.
âSo whereâs he sending you?â Clint asked.
âSan Francisco, to meet some superhero team,â Alexa told them.
âWell be careful, Bluejay.â
Alexa gave him a small salute. âWill do, Papa Bird.â
Clint had been the one to recruit her into SHIELD, so he treated her like a daughter. In fact, she often spent holidays with his family at their farm in Iowa.
Alexa made her way to the hanger and climbed aboard one of the Quinjets. She sat down in one of the seats and strapped herself in as she pulled up files on each of the Heroics and their children.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
They touched down a few hours later on top of the Heroics HQ.
A man in a leather jacket was waiting for her when the ramp lowered.
âIâm assuming youâre Marcus Moreno?â Alexa asked.
Marcus Moreno was an older man who looked to be in his early 40âs going off the grey patches in his beard. He was rather attractive and if Alexa was telling the truth, sheâd always kind of been into older men. She couldnât tell you how many wet dreams sheâd had of Clint, especially when he was training her.
âAnd youâre Agent Schofield?â
Alexa waved her hand dismissively. âPlease call me Alexa or Bluejay since you Heroics are into codenames and everything.â
Marcus blushed. âUm, itâs for security reasons.â
âBut you donât have one. There wasnât one in your file.â
Marcus shrugged. âNever felt it necessary. Come on inside.â
They walked inside and Marcus introduced her to some of the staff. Finally, they came to Anita Morenoâs office.
âAh, so youâre the Avenger.â
âMom,â Marcus said.
âYouâre very young, arenât you? Very pretty.â
âMom!â
Alexa laughed. âItâs true Iâm the youngest of the Avengers. If you think Iâm pretty, my partner Natasha is drop dead gorgeous if I donât say myself.â
âMarcus, see she gets settled in before you introduce her to the team tomorrow,â Anita said.
âItâs an honor to meet you Mrs. Moreno, truly.â
âNo need to flatter me, niĂąa.â
As they left Anitaâs office, Alexa was suddenly surrounded by a group of children throwing questions at her right and left.
Marcus swooped in and rescued her. âGive her break, kids. Sheâll be here for a week at least.â
Their teacher ushered them away, except one of them stayed.
âSo whatâs your superpower?â she asked.
âMissy,â Marcus scolded her, âIâm sorry. My daughter is just curious.â
âItâs okay. MyâŚpartner has kids so Iâm used to it.â
Missy reminded Alexa of little Lila Barton.
Alexa looked around the room until she settled on a metal railing. She reached out with her power and grabbed it, pulling it towards her and twisting it around so it resembled DNA.
The kids all gasped and started clapping.
âWoah! Dad, sheâs like you!â Missy exclaimed.
Alexa put the railing back.
âWhatâs your superhero name?â Missy asked.
âBluejay.â
âButâŚbut that doesnât have anything to do with your powerâŚâ
âNo, it doesnât. But my partner is called Hawkeye. He gave me my name because of my blue eyes. I wasnât very close with my parents, so he kind of became my adoptive father and he wanted to give me a codename that followed his. Codenames arenât always tied to your powers with the Avengers. Sometimes itâs tied to who you are as a person like Cap.â
Alexa knew Missy Moreno didnât have any powers, because her file had been pretty bare.
She knelt in front of the preteen. âBut Iâll tell you something, you donât need powers or a supersuit to save the world. Tony says that if you canât be a hero without a suit, then you donât deserve one.â
Missy threw her arms around Alexaâs neck.
Marcus just stared in wonder at the young woman holding his daughter in her arms.
Missy pulled away and wiped at her eyes.
Marcus cleared his throat. âIâll be by later to pick you up.â
Missy nodded and followed her classmates.
âThank you for saying that,â Marcus told Alexa.
âNot everyone can have superpowers. Natasha doesnât, neither does Tony or Clint. Sure, Tony has his Ironman suit, but Clint and Natasha worked for the skills they have. Missy can be the same. Now come on Moreno, I need a nap before I deal with any more people.â
I think that everyone forgot that Samuel L. Jackson and Brie Larson co-stared in a movie called Unicorn Store. Those two went from a painter who wants to buy a unicorn and a salesman selling unicorns to a galaxy saving super hero duo.
