Instead of doing the 15 other things I should be doing, I decided to spend today digitizing some of the concept art for my main WIP, despite the fact that I'm not even good at art. Here's one of my favorites
As some of you may know, for my original-content WIP (called Aether Punks) I’ve been writing the spellbook from scratch. Due to a major worldbuilding redraft, I am now rewriting the whole thing. And...well...
I’m in worldbuilding hell. And it’s not even done yet. I still have a bunch more spells to add. This is mostly just me explaining how magic works, barely even touching on the spells themselves
(Don’t worry, I have no intentions of info-dumping my readers with 40+ pages of pure text about the magic system! It’s just that since my story heavily revolves around studying, practicing, and innovating magic, I as the author need to have a detailed understanding of how the system works. Yknow, to prevent plotholes and whatnot. What can I say? I like being thorough.)
hey excuse me??? you have been depriving us???? i am taking your silence on the topic of Rosetta's war against the universe EXTREMELY personally
SOMEONE ASKED ABOUT MY WIP LETS GOOOOOO
Okay, first some background information. Rosetta is one of the main characters from my current WIP, Aether Punks. The basic premise of Aether Punks is that it’s your classic teenage chosen one story, but with the catch that she’s not trying to fulfill destiny but destroy it.
Why is Rosetta trying to destroy destiny? Well...
Every generation, the world of Aether is threatened by yet another apocalypse called a Cataclysm. To put an end to this year’s hot new Cataclysm, fate chooses one person - called the Saving Grace - to save the world from whatever happens to be screwing it over at the moment. This time around the Cataclysm is a horde of monsters, and the Saving Grace is a cocky lil bastard named Rosetta.
At first, Rosetta is more than happy to do her part and fulfill destiny. Anything to stroke her ego, right? Wrong. As she quickly discovers, destiny isn’t exactly all sunshine and parades like she thought. It’s actually super, SUPER corrupt.
See, destiny isn’t a force of the universe, or god, or anything quite so cosmic. Destiny is a product of man. The Saving Grace/Cataclysm stuff? That was all manufactured by the Aetherian government. They’ve got a device that can control destiny, and they use it to get whatever they want.
But why would the government want to put their own people in danger every few decades? Well, you can’t exactly overthrow a corrupt government if your life is constantly under threat, especially if that same government is the only thing protecting you from those threats. And thus the current authoritarian regime has remained in power for 300 years with minimal protest.
And as for the Saving Grace? Simple. The only reason Rosetta was chosen to be the Saving Grace at all is because her dad wanted his kid to have a cool destiny, and just so happened to bid highest at the Destiny Auction.
Naturally, when Rosetta figures this out she’s rightfully pissed off. She’s been condemned to the life of a Teenage Fantasy Chosen One, forced to lose limbs and watch loved ones die, just so the government can sit in its ivory tower and jack off to the sweet sound of her misery? Hell NO. Rosetta’s gonna fight back.
So instead of fulfilling destiny and saving the world, Rosetta sets out to destroy the very system that’s endangering it in the first place, the system that’s controlling her life and the lives of everyone else in Aether. She’s gonna fist-fight destiny itself (whether she succeeds is another matter).
...so yeah. That’s Aether Punks.
Thanks for the ask! <3 <3 <3
MORE memes for a story nobody has even read???? On MY blog??? Its more likely than you think

I know I should shut up about my WIP eventually because I’m quite certainly the only person who cares, but today is not that day! Here is some profile art of the main members of the Aether Punks found family, courtesy of this Picrew.
Left to right, top to bottom: Sinclair, Rosetta, Cravey, Memphis, Indiana, Trish
(Want a story with no major romantic subplots? A story that focuses mostly on friendship, dismantling corrupt governments, and exploiting magic loopholes? Then this is the story for you! Aether Punks is your classic chosen one story, except for two main twists: 1) it’s told from the POV of the beleaguered sidekick; and 2) instead of fulfilling destiny, the goal is to destroy it. Y’know, cuz destiny is actually a government conspiracy and all. Coming hopefully soon to an ao3 account near you.)
...now that I’m looking at it, I realize most of my characters are girls lmao
Memes for my WIP, even though I’m the only one who’ll be able to understand them

[For every 🌹 I will share one random line from my current wip!]
His aunt - five feet of lavender perfume held together by sycophancy, pointy ears, and sheer force of will - spun on her heels to face him.
